Hi everyone!

I was recently accepted to the UMD MS program for this fall and am currently looking into housing options (on-campus and nearby apartments). Since this will be my first time studying in the U.S., I’m having a hard time deciding where to live.

For graduate students, which would you recommend between Courtyards, Graduate Hills, or nearby apartments? I would really appreciate it if you could share your experiences, including pros and cons.

My priorities are:

• Safety (especially being able to walk around at night)
• Distance from campus (preferably walkable or accessible without a car)
• A quiet environment where I can study in the evenings
• Rent under $1,200
• Private bathroom if possible (4B4B or 2B2B layouts are fine)
• Furnished or not

If you’ve lived in any of these places or have suggestions, I’d really appreciate your advice!
