doing my course with another candidate, and he’s a shockingly bad truck driver

bit of a rant, but of a discussion, bit of everything i suppose. and there’s a TLDR at the bottom to save your sanity reading all this shit - i just wanted to rant a bit and see anyone else’s opinions

so i’m on my course (i’ve posted here and mentioned it before), it’s a 5 day thing where you get your license at the end of it, and as i’m sure is quite common, another person is doing the same course alongside me, so we’re in the truck together and take turns practicing test routes etc.

but my god, this other guy is genuinely worrying me. i’m absolutely loving the driving part, i really enjoy it. but when im a passenger with this other guy, it’s actually really nerve racking

where do i even start? his overall awareness and control is dreadful, he’s constantly drifting around, catching kerbs and he’ll take some corners like a car, and others like he’s pulling and extended low bed. he drives ridiculously slow in fast limits, and takes forever to accelerate, his general reaction time is pretty crap, hence why he’s floating all over the place when going down dual carriageways and motorways, like he’s constantly over the rumble strip into the hard shoulder and then he’ll come back out again but then immediately drift back into it

yesterday we were heading down the motorway briefly, and traffic was stopped up ahead, and it’s almost like he just wasn’t looking out the windscreen, took him 2-3 business days to actually hit the brakes, only after the instructor called out for him to brake (plus he’s always doing about 45 when we’re on motorways and dual carriageways)

we practice the same routes both days, just getting used to them and whatnot, yet he drives on them like he’s never seen them before, constantly in the wrong lanes and doing things that the instructor has told him not to do multiple times before. i don’t wanna sound bad, but this guy has only been in the uk for 3 years or so, he speaks a bit of english, but i feel like he doesn’t understand enough english to really get what the instructor is trying to teach him. and when the instructor has to quickly tell him to correct something (which happens a lot), he kind of just goes ‘ah’ and then carries on

i don’t wanna sound big headed, but i’m pretty decent at driving this truck now, i’ll admit it’s only on a 30 foot trailer i think, but i’m used to the way it handles, i don’t hit kerbs, i can reverse it etc. so i feel like he could learn a decent enough routine by watching me drive, but most of the time when im driving he’s just on his phone (messaging people with his ringer on, very annoying), and when we were pulling back into the yard for a break and driver swap, he just decided to take a phone call from someone and started speaking arabic next to me whilst i’m trying to manoeuvre around a tight coach yard that was rammed. like come on man, i don’t make a racket when you’re driving, just do the same for me please. thankfully, i’m generally quite good at handling distractions, but it’s still annoying regardless

the instructor is extremely chill. properly nice bloke, i just sort of chat with him sometimes about cars and trucks. he butts in when the other guy is driving and does something wrong (again, happens often), but i do feel like he could be more strict, perhaps even on both of us, but he said to me to just keep doing what i’m doing because it’s pretty spot on (i’m just working on getting into the shoulder check routine, which won’t take me long)

bloke can’t work the truck properly either. it’s a renault T with an electric handbrake, and he just can’t learn how it works. to turn off the handbrake, you go foot brake, then push the button forwards. it also disengages when you accelerate, but this guy just can’t work it out, he keeps pulling it and pushing it when he doesn’t need to, so he just kinda gets stuck on the spot because he keeps fucking around with the handbrake

and the gears, obviously they’re on the right stalk as i’m sure everyone here knows, and renaults have drive and neutral on the inter twister, and reverse and crawl on the outer one (to use reverse you go drive, then twist to reverse, and to go from R to D you pull the whole stick towards you). he can’t work this out either, he keeps trying to pull it and twist it randomly and all in the wrong situations. he manages to put the fucker into manual mode which fucks things up even more, then he’ll be in neutral redlining it, then reverse, then crawl, manual, drive. it’s quite simple really

(last paragraph, i promise) - his reversing is shit, but he somehow passed that i think. and he just randomly indicates when he feels like it. he’ll be sat at the roundabout, not moving, and he’ll just indicate right for no reason, even if we’re taking the first exit for example. it’s not even common mistakes, it’s just random shit that makes no sense at all

TLDR; other candidate is a crap driver, no coordination, can’t reverse, can’t work the truck and gearbox properly, rags it around, then goes too slow, and then just doesn’t brake. we’ve had some close calls with stopped traffic because he just sort of doesn’t react to it sometimes. and he just isn’t learning from his mistakes at all. it makes me genuinely worried and tense when i’m a passenger, i genuinely hope he fails because he’ll be a danger to the road

why do quite a few truck drivers flash learner trucks?

i’m currently learning (it’s going well), and i’ve noticed that we get flashed quite often by other truck drivers. is there an actual reason for it? or is it just kind of a thing that some drivers like to do?

CPC module 2 coming up soon. any advice?

hi. i’ve got my cpc module 2 test coming soon, i just thought i’d ask here if anyone has any advice, and i also just want to know what it’s about really

i’ve heard that it’s generally pretty ‘easy’, is this true? i’ve done a bit of research and this is kind of part of the research, what’s it like? and is it really ‘that easy’

thanks in advance 👍

Finally taking the SBR4 to the paint shop

It's been a really long project but it's finally almost done. I hoped to get it into the shop sooner but I had a lot of things to do, mostly with LGT, some good some bad. But now we finally got it into the paint shop, it's gonna look a lot different when it comes out and I can't wait to see it. And I also can't wait to get back to rallying!

So now I've got a Segra being stickered up elsewhere, and an SBR4 rally car being painted and stickered at the same time, big things are coming!

Drivers of Italy, PLEASE slow down at blind corners and summits!!

Before anyone says we aren't supposed to drive trucks on the narrow roads, we deliver to a place on this road, and there is no other way to this place, this is what our rigid trucks are for.

Got yet another call that no haulage owner should need to hear, but yea. Some young people in a home built Covet decided to go for a little joyride and they learnt the hard way that rallying on public roads is a bad idea. Now this kids first car is writted off because of his own reckless driving.

At the moment I can share dash cam footage because the police and insurance are holding it, but I can assure you that my driver was doing about 20kph up a slope as to keep slow but also maintain momentum whilst fully loaded, the Covet was probably going about 80-90kph, on a one-lane road, over a blind hill. As you can see, he didn't stop in time

The kids in the car were treated and just had some whiplash and were a bit shaken but they were fine, my driver was also fine because Segra's are extremely safe! Time to get another bullbar ordered then :/

Everyone, please just take extra care when approaching blind corners and hills, you never know what's on the other side

DRIVER WANTED! - LG Transport has officially relocated to Lucera!

LG Transport has officially moved operations to our new yard in Lucera, we are currently constructing a new office building, amongst other yard modifications

We have been trying to move out of the port for a long time, it's just not an ideal spot. And we finally found this piece of land with yard and buildings up for sale and had to go for it. Now we have our very own secure yard

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A DRIVER - We have purchased a used Segra from our friends at Bapelsin Haulage, and we require a driver. Here are the details:

1 Driver required day work only, no nights out (you will be home every night)

Fair pay rate of €21/hour - with an additional €15 meal allowance per day

You will be the sole driver of the vehicle, no other drivers will use your truck

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a minimum 2 years of European class 1 (C+E) driving experience. The truck will be in action roughly 3 weeks after this ad is posted, due to paint and vinyl work needing to be completed first.

If you are interested please DM me and we can discuss it further (meta: btw you'll need the segra mod and euro trailer, segra is paid but you can probably find it for free somewhere if you didn't want to pay for it -wink wink-)

LG Transport official fleet photo 2026 - Possibly looking for a driver SOON!!

Thanks to the guys at Montevalle quarry for letting us in on Sunday to take these photos with an amazing backdrop

2026 has been a blast so far, LG Transport has expanded so much over the past few months. I started this company with 1 truck, and I was renting a trailer from Bapelsin haulage, I barely had enough money to keep my truck on the road and things were extremely difficult.

Eventually I had enough to buy a second truck, both of these were beaten up old segra's (the previous model to the ultimat), but I was able to hire a driver to go with it, this very driver is still with the company to this day and he drives the second best truck in the fleet (next to the black Nord edition)

Now, in 2026, we run a total of 9 working trucks, with a T-series showtruck (we sold the Potent about a month ago due to lack of use), we have drivers for each truck, and we are still looking to expand, buying brand new high end Segra Ultimats. There may be a post coming soon looking for a driver for a potential new truck, if you live in Italy and are looking for a haulage job, keep your eyes peeled!

I never thought LG Transport would make it to this point, it just goes to show that hard work really does pay off. I am eternally proud of what I have created, the pride I take in my fleet, my commitment to treating my drivers well, everything about this company has been such a huge part of my life!

Here's to the next year!

A police chase in Italy last night ended in the port, right by our yard...

First time taking the Yoru to work this morning, one of my drivers who arrives before me texted me to let me know that the police are outside the yard and it looked like someone had nearly crashed into the ocean, definitely wasn't expecting this first thing in the morning

Apparently two 16 year olds stole a lovely V10 Baionetta, and they were chased on the highway before coming off and making their way to the port, where they lost control here and hit the red container, they then slid and ended with the front wheels hanging over the edge of the port. They were unharmed, but they were extremely close to falling in the water, which could've led to a very different outcome

Hopefully they learnt their lesson, both have been arrested. And luckily none of our trucks or property were damaged

I may have made a childish financial decision - is it a good one?

I was so excited for this because I've wanted one of these cars ever since they were first released, so I finally decided to just put my foot down and buy one - All thanks to the success of LG Transport, something that I'm so proud of, and eternally grateful of. The business has grown so much recently, and it's only getting bigger, new trucks are on the way soon and hopefully we're gonna get some of our current trucks in for some customisation, so that they look just as good as the rest of the fleet

Fix one, and another one breaks...

You just can't make this stuff up :/

Just got the Centauri fixed after I got pulled out on by an elderly driver, and 10 minutes after I picked it up, I got a call from one of my drivers to say that he'd just been hit by some German people in a Gavril Enix when he was doing his ususal drops on narrow roads (we use rigid trucks for the narrow roads, not artics)

Now we have a Segra with loads of huge scratches down the side, and a broken wingmirror, respray and new stickers it is then!

Great...

I've had better days

Going home after work today, and someone pulled out infront of me in Norte, a 90-something year old man in a beaten up AW Bete. He seemed a bit confused but paramedics said he is ok

His car took quite a hit, whereas the tank that is the Centauri was more or less fine, just some front end damage. Luckily it just needs a new front bumper, the Bete will probably be written off

Insurance will cover the damage, thank god for dashcams (can't show the footage because insurance don't want me to share it sadly, maybe one day)

BREAKING: 3 Dead and 3 injured after truck driver falls asleep behind the wheel

I got all of these photos and all the info from the media, truly a tragic day in Norte, a horrible accident. Here is some info that I got online:

A 35 year old truck driver named Alonso Scolitti caused a dramatic and tragic accident today just outside of Norte, the driver was believed to have fallen asleep behind the wheel. This is further backed up by the Tachometer inside of the vehicle, which informed police that the driver was 2 hours and 13 minutes OVER the legal limit of daily driving time of 10 hours.

Unfortunately, a total of 3 people lost their lives in this harrowing scene, the truck driver was one of them

The other 2 that have lost their lives, 23 year old Leonardo Bianchi, and 22 year old Vittoria Colombo, were travelling from Castelleto in their ETK-800 series, when a Segra Ultimat 790 came barreling down through Norte tunnel, completely out of control. The Segra entered the roundabout at approximately 97kph, slamming into the ETK-800, killing its occupants instantly

Additionally, a Gavril Scout containing a family of 3 was also hit, the occupants survived with minor injuries, and they wish to remain anonymous to the media.

The media were controled within the scene, and were only allowed to take photos from certain angles, and were told not to photograph any bodies, and to avoid photographing the destroyed ETK-800, out of respect for the victims. Various drone photos captured more of the scene from a distance.

Truly tragic. LG Transport sends our deepest condolences to the families of the victims during this incedibly touch time. And we wish the family of the Gavril Scout a speedy recovery.
