6/31 of our scrapers died unnoticed. How many of yours are dead?

I found out on Friday that 6 of our 31 scrapers have been writing zero rows for somewhere between two weeks and four months.

And they do not show any slight error nor do they give an alert. they run on schedule but come back with nothing and exit clean and i had three separate people look at a flat line on a dashboard and quietly decide that was just what the data looked like now.

So my python web scraping setup is roughly 60 percent functional and i have spent most of a year telling people it was fine. i felt sick for about an hour,

What I cannot work out is whether the fix is putting the fragile ones behind a web scraping api, or whether i would just be paying to move the silence somewhere I can see even less of it.

Give me two numbers. How many you run, and how many you would bet your own money are working right now. Be honest about the second one, I was not.

Anyone else feel like AI coding assistants are moving faster than our ability to actually review the code they write?

Xcode picked up more AI coding assistant integration recently, and it's genuinely useful for boilerplate and quick prototyping. But I've noticed PRs (mine included) are getting bigger and messier because it's so easy to generate a lot of code fast — the actual review/understanding step hasn't kept pace with how quickly the code gets written.

Curious how others here are handling this in their workflow:

  • Are you reviewing AI-generated code more strictly than human-written code, or treating it the same?
  • Has it changed how you write tests / documentation for your own sanity later?
  • Anyone actually seen a bug slip through because a PR was "AI-assisted" and got a lighter review than it should have?

Not anti-AI-tools at all, just feels like the review culture around them hasn't fully caught up yet. Wondering if that's just me or a broader thing people are noticing.

Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful

Ever since I read the last page of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, this line has been looping in my head. The prose is so sharp and immersive that the thought of switching over to a normal, modern fiction book seems entirely uninspiring at this point.I still have my head so deep into the dark gothic atmosphere and I need a real change of pace to reset my reading habits. What's an inspiring, high-impact quote that made you immediately want to go out and buy every other book that the author ever wrote?

Car prices in India are getting out of hand for what they actually offer

I’ve been tracking the automotive market recently, and it really feels like car prices have skyrocketed over the last couple of years without a matching increase in quality or reliability.

Between the massive waiting periods, dealership tantrums, and features being cut from mid-spec variants, the overall buying and ownership experience has taken a hit. It feels like every brand forces you into a major compromise now—whether it is safety, after-sales service, or long-term engine refinement
