**Edit: DURING pat leave **

Welp. Never thought I’d be dealing with this.
I’m taking 5 weeks of paternity leave and was told I’m expected to join weekly deal deep dives — “to help close these deals.”

Throughout my career, I’ve watched colleagues take 3–6 months off without batting an eye, fully supported, returning to a normal environment. Meanwhile I’m being told I should be joining calls because “it’s your money.”

What makes it worse? I keep making excuses for this company and its leadership — even as 3 reps have quit within 6 months of being hired and others have quietly given up.

I’m in my late 30s and have no problem holding my ground. But for anyone younger navigating something similar: don’t be a pushover. Maintain your boundaries. Don’t let anyone come between you and your family.

For background: I am based in Canada, so pretty well protected from legal stand point.
