Hi Tuta team,
I would like to suggest a feature for Tuta Calendar that could make it easier to use Tuta together with external applications, while still preserving a high level of privacy.
As far as I understand, calendar sharing from Tuta to external applications is currently not possible because of Tuta’s encryption model. I fully understand that this limitation exists for privacy reasons, and I very much appreciate this approach. This is one of the reasons why I use Tuta.
At the same time, there are situations where it would be very helpful to provide external tools with limited availability information. For example, booking tools or scheduling applications do not necessarily need to know the content of my calendar. They only need to know when I am available or unavailable.
A privacy-friendly compromise could be a free/busy calendar feed that shows only blocked time slots, without revealing any event details.
Ideally, such a feed would include only the start and end time of busy periods and a generic status such as “busy” or “unavailable”.
It should not include event titles, descriptions, locations, participants, notes, or any other personal information.
In my view, this could make Tuta Calendar much more useful for many users who rely on external scheduling tools, while still protecting the actual content of their calendars.
For privacy-conscious users, this would be a very valuable option: a practical compromise between strong encryption and everyday usability.
Thank you for considering this feature.
