why do we need to dissolve NaOH or KOH in ethanol/methanol/isopropanol before mixing the alcohol with the triglyceride ? wouldn't the transesterification work even without any base ?
in a case where the isotope doesnt have a ridiculously high lifespan at human scale, would the soap stay as soap or would it be destroyed the moment the alkaline gets transformed into another element because of radiation ?
