Which shipgirls are good for progress?

I’m a new player (started just a week ago) so I’m not sure which ones should I invest into? I have read the guide and so but I don’t know if it’s better to continue with my current fleet or rather replace Repulse, Unzen-Chan, Long Island or others with different ships? Thanks for any help!
