Do any other school music ensemble directors deal with kids quitting every year and find it hard not to take it personally? I know it’s part of the job, but it can still be really discouraging. How do you all handle it? How do you handle it with admin? It is difficult teaching a year long elective vs the others that are offered semesters & rotated .
Once applied to a position, does it potentially help or hurt your chances to send a follow up email to principals or HR as an introduction & include a resume? Anyone ever do this & find it helped?

Unless it’s stated to include an introductory video or teaching demo within a job application summary, do I HAVE to or is it necessary to include all of those items (intro video, teaching demo, philosophy) in my OLAS general application?
I don’t want it to hinder my chances- advice from any folks hired or are on the hiring side?
