Shaved my cat due to matting and now my “bonus mom”/roommate is pissed.
As the subject says, I ended up having to shave my cat due to matting on his lower back by his tail and as well as his armpit areas. I try to brush him regularly but he likes to go outside and roll around which has started causing matting. I started cutting some of the mats when I realized just how bad they were(almost mini dreadlocks) and he would get mad if I pet him in those areas. Now I am being told that I messed up and he is going to end up sunburnt or too cold in the AC due to him being shaved. What I need to know is did I mess up by shaving him and give him a higher chance of sunburn by shaving him down?
He is my cat, I’ve had him since 2020. We have lived with my roommate for 3 1/2 years and they try to act like he is their cat but my name is in all of his vet papers and microchip. Added a few photos of him before the haircut and after.
Update: Thank you everyone. I haven’t had issues with him matting over the last 6 years with me brushing him once a week. But I will definitely be brushing him way more often as his hair starts coming in. This was a first for me with matting as
I also have a senior long-haired black cat that doesn’t get brushed very often but has no matting but he also does not go outside as often as this one does.
I will be turning off comments as I am still working my way through reading all of the current comments.
Edit: Never mind I can’t turn off comments. *Shrugs*
