My friend disappeared during a night hike and I still don’t know what happened to him

This happened a few years ago, and I’ve never really told the whole story online because I know how ridiculous it’s going to sound Me and three friends decided to go hiking one night because we were bored and wanted to do something different. It wasn’t some crazy wilderness trip either. It was a trail we’d all been on during the day before, and there was a parking area pretty close to the trailhead.
We started hiking around 10:30 at night It was actually pretty peaceful at first The weather was cool, there wasn’t much wind, and we could see the moon through the trees. We had flashlights, water, and our phones, so none of us were really worried.
About an hour into the hike, we started hearing something in the woods.
At first we thought it was an animal. You know that feeling when you hear a branch snap somewhere and immediately convince yourself it’s nothing? That’s basically what we did. Every few minutes we’d hear something moving off the trail, but whenever we stopped to listen, everything went completely quiet.
One of my friends, Ryan started getting uncomfortable. He kept looking behind us and asking if we’d heard someone walking. We told him it was probably a deer or something.
Then he stopped talking.
We eventually realized he wasn’t with us anymore.
We figured he’d just stopped to tie his shoe or something, so we walked back down the trail calling his name. No answer. We kept going back until we reached a point where we could see pretty far down the trail in both directions.
He wasn’t there.
We called his phone. We could hear it ringing somewhere in the woods, but we couldn’t see him.
That’s when things got weird.
The ringing stopped, and a few seconds later we heard Ryan’s voice from somewhere off the trail.
He said, “Guys, I’m over here.”
We followed the voice maybe twenty or thirty feet into the woods.
Then we heard it again.
“Guys?”
It sounded exactly like him.
But Ryan’s phone was still ringing back on the trail.
We just stood there staring at each other.
Nobody wanted to go any farther.
Then the phone stopped ringing.
We called his name again, and this time there was no answer.
We ended up calling the police and search crews came out that night. They searched the area for hours. They found Ryan’s backpack sitting beside the trail, but they never found him.
It’s been years.
The part that still bothers me is that we heard his voice twice from inside the woods, even though his phone was sitting on the trail with us.
I don’t know what we heard that night.
I don’t know if it was actually Ryan or something that sounded like him.
I just know that if I ever hear someone calling my name from the woods at night again, I’m not answering

I Think Someone Is Watching Me Through My Window

I live on the second floor of an apartment building, so I’ve never really thought much about people being able to look through my windows. I keep my curtains open most of the time because my bedroom gets pretty dark during the day, and honestly, there’s not much to look at anyway. It’s just the parking lot, a few trees, and the building across from mine.
The first time I saw her, it was probably around midnight. I was lying in bed scrolling through my phone when I happened to look up toward the window.
There was someone standing outside.
I remember just staring at her for a few seconds because my brain didn’t really understand what I was seeing. She was far enough away that I couldn’t make out her face, but I could tell she was a woman. She wasn’t moving or doing anything. She was just standing there, facing my window.
My first thought was that maybe she was standing on a balcony or something, but there aren’t any balconies on that side of the building. I even got out of bed and walked closer to the window to see if I could figure out where she was standing.
She disappeared when I turned the light on.
I looked outside afterward and couldn’t see anyone. I checked the parking lot from another window too, but there was nobody down there. I ended up convincing myself that I’d probably seen a reflection or something. I was tired, and it was late.
Three nights later, I saw her again.
Same spot.
This time I didn’t turn the light on. I just sat there watching her for probably five minutes. She never moved. I started wondering if she was actually looking at me or if she was looking at something inside my room.
Eventually I closed the curtains and went back to sleep.
After that, I started keeping them closed at night.
For about a week, nothing happened.
Then I woke up one night because I had to use the bathroom. My room was completely dark, but there was a faint outline of someone standing near the window.
I froze.
For a few seconds I thought someone had gotten into my apartment. I grabbed my phone and turned the flashlight on.
There was nobody there.
The curtains were still closed.
I opened them slowly and looked outside. Nothing.
That’s when I noticed the handprint.
It was on the window.
On the inside.
I remember just standing there staring at it. I didn’t touch it. I didn’t even really know what I was supposed to do. I ended up going back to bed and telling myself there had to be some explanation.
I didn’t see the woman again after that.
At least, not for a while.
Last month I moved into a different apartment on the first floor of the same building. I thought that would make me feel better about the whole thing.
It didn’t.
A few nights ago, I was sitting on my couch when I noticed someone standing outside my living-room window.
It was her.
Same clothes.
Same posture.
Same distance.
Except now she wasn’t looking at me.
She was looking upstairs.
At my old apartment.
I watched her for a long time without moving.
Then she slowly raised one hand and pointed toward my old bedroom window.
I looked upstairs.
There was someone standing behind the glass.
I couldn’t see their face.
But I could tell they were watching me.
And then the person upstairs raised their hand too.
They were waving.
