Sarco heatshield & bayonet issue
Recently purchased the combination reproduction heatshield and bayonet that Sarco sells for the winchester 1897. I was going to put them on my 1887 because I saw someone else do it and it looked neat. After receiving them, I test fitted the two pieces and they're all loose and wobbly. The faux barrel doesn't even make it to the end of the quillion ring. I contacted Sarco and will be returning it, but they won't seem to approve my review of their poor tolerances on their site, so I'm saying it here.
Also their rep tried to tell me "they're supposed to be loose... they're a military design". I haven't handled that many original bayonets, but the enfield, garand, and sks bayonets I've handled didn't wobble like that.
Maybe I got a lemon, but that answer doesn't fill me with confidence. Caveat emptor I guess.
