Stupid question

I guess I have never noticed. Is it normal for the crimp on the top of shells to be open enough to see the pellets?

Shotgun Sling

Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations on a shotgun sling.

I have a Browning A5 that I do not wish to drill a post into the stock. I do have a mag cap with a swivel attachment point, is there a loop sling for the stock WITH a swivel point for the mag cap out there?

Best 12 gauge slugs that'll run in a semi auto for an indoor range day?

Been needing to pick up some because the local range only allows slugs and the ones they have there were some magnum loads that weren't the most fun to casually shoot. I know there's some reduced recoil shells but I wanted to be sure whatever I get would run in a semi-auto.

Take care of your guns. Take care of yourself too.

A clean gun is good. A healthy body is better.

Which should I get?

Putting one of these on a maverick 88 and want opinions on which I should buy, the tacstar or the Monstrum?

About to get my first gun/Shotgun for deer (and someday) Turkey Hunting

Ahoy people of Reddit! Now that I don’t drink anymore and am slightly more responsible with all aspects of my life I’m extending my outdoorsmanship from just fishing into hunting after a buck t-boned my car and almost ripped my head off.
I’m an old school kinda guy, no synthetic and want something that isn’t a one trick pony. Where Id be hunting mostly, only allows archery and slugs (no rifle or buckshot). I want to get a bow as well but feel like I might as well get the bow and shotgun at the same time (buy two at once, cry once?) then spend the winter honing before I decide to try to take a life with it probably season after this.
I’m thinkin the Mossberg 500 retrograde with its 18.5 stock barrel. I know I could get something more inexpensive but I don’t mind paying another 90 for the corncob. And the old guy at Cabelas duped me into getting their credit card last summer so I might as well use it there. I like the shorter barrel because it would be mostly short range and in the dense scrub. I also barely know what I’m talking about so experts please let me know what ya think. Would I neeed a different barrel for Turkey? It would definitely be used mostly for deer and that’s the priority.
Also would any sort of sights be helpful or compatible with the short barrel? What I’ve heard is the 12gauge and a shorter barrel the recoil is unforgiving on such things. I want to keep it classic but efficient so no batteries or fancy sights but want to add a little handicap at first maybe because I’m new to the game. And to reiterate I definitely won’t shoot anything until I’m sure if my abilities with the bow and gun. Ok that’s the rant, let me know what ya guys think! Thank you all, always.

New trap shotgun

Getting into the world of trap and decided I wasn't going to spend a billion dollars when I first start out like I do with every hobby I take up. Found this CZ Teal sport exclusive to Bass Pro and decided to pick one up. Applied for a bass pro card and was able to get it out rhe door for a little under $700 with the discount for getting the card.

I will say the process of purchasing a firearm from Bass Pro was absolutely unbelievable. I am usually a mom and pop shop type shopper and when I get a gun im in and out within 20-25 minutes with the 4473 and anything else

It took me over an hour to be able to walk out with this gun. Between the straw purchase notice, all the safety stuff and not 1, not 2 but 3 checks on the 4473 from 3 different people who all had to he called from different areas of the store. If I could of gotten then shotgun anywhere else I probably would have but other than that I am very happy with it

New Benelli M2 Tactical (M4 Lite)

Kinda blew my mind to see Benelli release a completely new design GAS PISTON operated semi under the M2 naming convention. Pretty much completely antithetical to Benelli’s whole inertia schtick. Even though Benelli is owned by Beretta Holding, I’m sure they were tired of getting killed by the Beretta 1301 eating market share. It gonna get very interesting if they begins releasing field guns with the new RPO gas system.

Anywho, for those in the market for a new, sub $2K, flagship tactical shotgun (so either a basic M-4 or 1301), the M2-G1 has entered the chat. If your faith in Benelli outweighs being a guinea pig for a new to market firearm (and with the same 10 year warranty, why not?), KyGunCo email quoted $273 less than the next lowest advertised price I’ve found.

The hull went out the barrel and downrange?

I was patterning a 1301 and found that one of the hulls was shot out the barrel and embedded itself in the target 20 yards away rather than ejecting like normal. I've never seen or heard of this happening and am unsure if it's an ammo issue, a mechanical issue, or something else. Does anyone have an idea of what could have caused this?

A300 Competition magazine plug?

Really wanting to pick up an A300 model and fell in love with the features on the Competition model - specifically the milled receiver for a dot, the standard ribbing, and the 24 inch barrel as i plan to use this for clay shooting. Is there any company that sells a magazine plug that can cap this down to 5 rounds for state compliance?

Lockable Shotgun Case

Hello! I have a used but well-maintained Mossberg International Silver Reserve 20-gauge very similar to these stock photos on its way to my local FFL. Once it arrives, what case do you recommend for it?

I'm looking for hard-sided lockable cases, ideally one that will withstand a curious adolescent but still reasonably portable so I can bring this for sporting clays, etc. If I have to supply the padlock, so it goes, but any recommendations would be helpful.

Bought this from my uncle for $300

It’s a Remy 870 Express Tactical, I’m not really a shotgun man by any means but he asked if I wanted to buy it as it’s just been sitting in his closet for years.

For some reason, I can’t find these things for sale anywhere though anymore it seems.

Help identifying part

I took apart my maverick 88 20 gauge that my father gave me as a gift 7-8 off years ago to do some cleaning. And admittedly I think a part fell out and I only noticed next day. I believe it is from the gun due to the metal and wear marks on it. Any help identifying it? I’d rather not give me or my gun issues.

TLDR: I’m 18 haven’t cleaned gun too often. And need help knowing if this’ll cause me to do a Kentucky ballistics.

Opinions and experiences with a vintage Franchi 2003 (or 2004 or 2005).

I've been contemplating getting into shotgun games with my new lady friend. She recently picked up a vintage Beretta BL3 from a friend of mine and is encouraging me to get an O/U mainly for sporting clays. I have another friend willing to sell me a reportedly unfired Franchi 2003 (though it just has the double barrel). I am aware that these guns have been out of production for decades, and that parts are going to be difficult to source should I ever need them.

That being said, I feel like with a budget of $700-800 for a beginners gun that will eventually get upgraded if I stick with the sport, a vintage Italian shotgun may be a better option than picking up anything new in that price range which will most assuredly come from Turkey.

Any thoughts of experiences with these old Franchi 2000 series guns? If it'll last me 5 years shooting occasional matches and rounds I think I should get my moneys worth in order to decide if I wish to upgrade.

P.S. I have shot trap, skeet, and sporting clays before using my old Remington 870's but figure an O/U would be better suited if I intend to dabble in the sport a bit more.
