Philippines Visa Status
Hey guys,
I’m reaching out to see if there is any help that can be provided for my partner’s cousin.
From my understanding my partner’s cousin moved to Australia with her Filipino family when she was 14 after having lived there her whole life. From her understanding, she is on a permanent visa but has not gained citizenship.
The issue is that her relationship with the family is horrible to say the least. She’s the oldest and was a born from a mother that she never met and was raised by her grand parents.
Her bio dad eventually decided he wanted to be a father and brought her over to Australia with his now step mother and half siblings.
She’s since cut all communication with her biological dad and her step mother side of the family due to them being awful. She’s currently residing with us and has been with other family members over the last couple of years.
She’s currently 21 now and has been having trouble trying to figure out the best way to gain citizenship or even figure out her visa status. I think she may have access to her Filipino passport but very possibly she does not.
She would like to go home eventually just to visit her family as obviously it’s quite hard for them to come over to Australia.
What route or options are there for her take as from our understanding her estranged family still have a lot of her documents.
