Making friends

Hi everyone, I (22m) am heading into my second year here and am yet to make a real friend. As a lot of students do, I’ve had a few people I sit with and talk to while a lecture is happening and don’t ever really speak to them outside of that. My age and the fact that I’m also bi make me feel like I very much don’t belong. No one has explicitly made fun of or pointed out either fact but I do always tend to end up feeling alienated when I’m in bigger groups of typically 18-19 year olds. I’m also an international student, so there’s even MORE reason for me to feel like I don’t belong.

I know most people are going to suggest joining groups based on my interests to meet like-minded people, and I did very much try to do this, but with a lot of groups it seemed like attending these alone was only going to result in me not really being able to get involved with the friend groups within these groups.

If anyone has been in a similar spot, I would really appreciate some advice. If anyone CURRENTLY is in a similar spot, please reach out! I want friends!

What to do for second year course enrollment

Hi everyone. I’m going into my second year and planning on applying for the stats major POSt as well as the cs minor POSt after I finish MAT102 this summer, but I forgot to take into account that course enrolment starts way before the Summer POSt round in September. From my understanding, since I’m not enrolled in any program at the moment (since the stats major and cs minor both require 102), I won’t be able to enrol in second year courses for now. Is there any way around this? I don’t want to risk classes filling up and then not being able to enrol at all.
