Okay, so I get that the whole point was to save the lives of the hostages.

But after some of them managed to escape by blowing up the wall with C4, the police suddenly decided to use that opportunity to storm through the hole. They fired countless shots at the criminals, fully risking the lives of everyone inside.

Yet once the wall was closed again, it was suddenly back to: “Never mind, let’s return to our old strategy and avoid risking the hostages’ lives.”

That’s what doesn’t make sense to me. If storming the building and taking that risk was acceptable once, why not blow open the wall again with C4 and continue? The switch in strategy feels completely inconsistent.
