Hit and run at gangapur road

My 60-year-old relative was seriously injured in a road accident at Gangapur road a few days ago. He was driving slowly on the left when a car hit him from behind. After the initial collision, the driver stopped with my relative dangerously close to the tyres. Despite people around asking the driver to move back, he accelerated and drove over the victim's arm, causing a complete fracture along with serious muscle and rib injuries. He then tried to flee.

People at the scene chased him, stopped his car, photographed the driver and vehicle, and submitted the photographs to the police. They also helped take my relative to the hospital.

The driver is now reportedly claiming that he suffered a heart attack/stroke and lost control. We don't know whether this medical claim is genuine and want it properly verified.

However, getting the FIR registered/copy provided has involved repeated delays and follow-ups. It has been six days since the accident now. We are also concerned about preserving CCTV footage and ensuring the investigation is impartial.

I'm looking for advice from people familiar with Nashik Police and the local legal system: What is the proper escalation route if we believe the investigation isn't being conducted properly? And what practical steps should we take now to preserve evidence and protect our case?
