Is Half City worth sticking with??
So I got Half City by Kate Golden in my Fairyloot subscription a few months ago. This was one of the books I was so excited for. I have finally got around to starting it, I am only 80 pages in and I’m struggling! It’s taken me days to even get here. Spoiler warning now… Viv has just had her first day of classes and I just can’t understand the pacing of this book. She went to orientation at Harker, knew nothing about anything, and suddenly just attended all her classes for the day without speaking to any staff. I assume she’s going to sneak back home at night. Otherwise what the hell is she telling her family and boyfriend when she just disappears or can’t see them after 8pm. She hasn’t once shown concern about her job or anything. She’s got no bags with her. I just feel like it’s been really rushed and Viv is just like okay time to go to class now. Really odd pacing. I am disappointed because I have seen nothing but good reviews and I was so excited for this one. Does it get better???
