Compound: People Management
Hey Y'all,
May I have useful tips on dealing with multiple personalities and people in 1 compound?
Here's the background:
* More women than men
* New build with cost cutting measures all around
* Initial Management company was thrust upon us and asked for a high number for MAINLAND, LAGOS but whatever. Ultimately, they were fired for a horrid job and ineptitude. We are self managing for 2026.
* Most of the compound lives abroad (5 out of 10)
* 1 of the 3 men stay onsite year round and likes to play King. Seriously, he just does whatever and I go along so long as it's good for the building but that has emboldened him to the point I'm writing here.
9ja is not my culture.
So, I defer much and give an abundance of respect out of ignorance most times.
#BUT, 10 UNITS and 1 person brings more wahala than all. Too many sit quietly as we self-manage via WhatsApp chat. Yeah, only 3 or 4 speak up but never at once meanwhile Bros is running amock.
*My ask: ....What's the norm when dealing with a compound of OWNERS? I'LL admit folks get animated in the West but I'm not on ground to ensure no shenanigans are at my door? What's the tolerance/ Baseline? Some neighbors have recommended a few things although funny ... I don't think we're at that level. I feel just get a new mgmt company so neighbors remain cordial. Any recs on a management company in the IKEJA area?*
