Installed OEM Subaru Hitch
I was looking at installing a trailer hitch on my 2026 CTW. Uhaul quoted me $550 to install an aftermarket hitch, and a trailer dealer near me quoted between $850-900. I knew that MSRP for the OEM hitch was around $750 plus installation. Watched a Youtube video walking through the install and it didn't look too difficult. Bought the hitch, ball mount (didn't realize that it does not come with the ball) and the Subaru logo hitch cover from one of those many Subaru dealerships that advertise Subaru parts online at a discount off of MSRP. The downside is shipping is extra. So I found a site for a dealer in CT (I'm in NY) where the shipping cost is lower. In total, it cost me less than $550 for the parts. The hitch actually came with a rubber hitch cover that says Subaru on it, so I actually didn't even need to purchase the logo hitch cover.
With my son doing most of the work, we took a little under 4 hours to install it. What I like about it is that it's all plug and play, no need to tap any wiring. And it seems to me to be more secure since it is installed inside the rails rather than hanging below it. Since the hitch replaces the bumper bar, now I have a spare.
