Before I buy the Wilderness...

I'm *this close* to pulling the trigger on a '26 Crosstrek Wilderness w/ the speakers/moonroof package, but first I wanted to see if I could get any last words of objection or encouragement, because truth-be-told, I REALLY struggled with this decision.

I am a current Crosstrek owner — 2016 Premium. Being the first car I'd ever purchased brand new, I loved it. It was simple and straightforward, no bells and whistles to distract me. It's at 120k miles now and has had no major issues. But I know it's time to move on.

Consideration 1: 2026 Premium = it's a NO :(
From the jump, I was fully prepared to get another CT Premium, but let me tell you, I HATE (hate hate hate) the fabric of the seats. It feels so unbelievably cheap IMO. And the steering wheel also feels whack (industry term). Overall, it feels like it would be a downgrade from my current vehicle, even though it's trim to trim. So that makes it a no for me.

Consideration 2: 2026 Sport = NO
Since the Sport is essentially the same vehicle with some cosmetic differences, that's a no too. (Plus there's no moonroof package option in the Sport, which I would like.)

Consideration 3: 2026 Limited = NO?
Then there's the Limited. On paper, it has everything I need and want, but I don't want leather seats. It gets hot to the touch in summer (esp b/c it only comes in dark colors), it holds heat/doesn't have much breathability, and it can get damaged easily (I have a dog and am a regular yard-saler/trash-picker). So when it comes to the Limited, the seat fabric is the ONLY thing that makes it a no for me.

(Weird that these are all coming down to seat fabric, right? But here we are...)

*Edit to note: Overall I don't want a hybrid because my husband does maintenance on my car, and this adds some unknowns, and I also want a spare tire on board, which the hybrids don't have.

Consideration 4: 2026 Wilderness = YES-ish
So I'm about a month into my quest/research/overthinking, and am seriously considering the Wilderness. I like the lifted feel (even though it's not that much taller, after test driving it a couple of times back-to-back with a Sport, it does feel a little higher.) I like the StarTex fabric, which I've read doesn't get as hot or hold as much heat as leather. And it's easier to clean/tougher for more rugged use. I like the package offering (moonroof, speaker upgrade, power seats). However, I do NOT need it for its ruggedness. My husband and I camp, but we take his truck. I don't need to tow, I don't need the torque, and the height off the ground isn't make or break for me. I DO live in New England, so knowing it will handle snow, ditches, and potholes easily is a plus. I also do love to explore randomly as I'm driving, so it's not uncommon for me to "see where this little dirt road leads to...oops, it's a house, sorry, bye."

So now I turn to you, my trusty Crosstrek diehards. Please be honest: will I regret getting this vehicle knowing it would be my daily driver, and not so much an adventuring vehicle (though I would use it from time to time on some interesting roads or to camp here and there). But essentially, I'm looking at city/suburban roads, paved country roads, and highway. Will I feel a difference on, say, highway, where I will have wished I didn't get this car? Is the vibration from the rugged tires obnoxious? Or is that negligible? I know gas mileage is something to consider, but I'm not as worried about that.

Thanks so much for any input/advice. You've all already been super helpful in another post from when my research first started, and just from reading about everyone's experiences in other threads. 🙏

Here's my "Coyote"

I traded my 2019 Impreza in for this 2026 Wilderness in February and can I just say I adore this car. I named him Coyote after Coyote Peterson of "Brave Wilderness." Six months in and I still get a thrill every time I look at him or drive him. I can hardly believe he's mine!

Newcomer here!

I was so upset my Honda Fit got totaled, but I'm excited about my '26 Crosstrek Sport Hybrid! I'd love to see the setups you have for your pets! My pitty Dolores for tax.

New Crosstrek!

Around a month ago I posted if I should buy a Kia or a Subaru. After tons of comments mainly saying I’m STUPID if I buy a Kia…I decided to buy a Crosstrek.

I love it!! I still like Kia tho.

My new 2026 hybrid limited

Coming from a 2016 crosstrek I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the technology. Has the mirror package, mud flaps and led upgrade.
Only 54 miles on it but so far I’m loving it!

Wiring a dashcam into a 2026 hybrid limited without auto-dim mirror?

I just bought a 2026 hybrid limited and want to install a dashcam - I’ve been searching online for as much info as I can get but it seems like most of what I’ve found is for older models or different trims. does anyone have experience installing a front and rear camera into the same model and year?

I also don’t have the auto dim rearview mirror, but I know people have said theyve plugged in their dashcam to that for a power source. I want a front and rear camera and I’m not sure where/how to wire in the rear camera. I don’t know much about how to install a camera in a car and I really don’t want to void my warranty

Thinking of getting my first Subaru. Is this a good deal?

Love the Crosstrek Wilderness in alpine green, but it is hard to come by on the used market.

Scratch on screen?

Is there any way to fix the gash on this screen? Thinking about buying and not sure if this is fixable.

Always Subidoo

Traded my 2017 Impreza > 2019 Crosstrek Premium > 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. Planning to add Lightbar, either ditch lights or pods next to lightbar (haven’t decided), rear additional backup lights that’s tied into reverse as well as pods) will update on what I decide

Transmission question

Sometimes when im accelerating my transmission acts almost if it's slipping. Heres the thing, i don't think its actually a transmission slip. It almost feels like the cvt can't decide which ratio to use. I'm still in warranty but don't know exactly how to explain it to the dealership.

I'm afraid ill drop it off for the day only for them to tell me they were unable to recreate the problem.

My first Subaru! And my first new car!

I picked up my first subaru yesterday. I got the 2026 Hybrid Crosstrek Sport in citron yellow. I love it! It's so fun and I am absolutely stoked to have a new car!

However, I'm having some buyers remorse. I ended up with a $534/mon payment, 75 months, 8yr/96k mi Gold Standard Warranty included, shockingly a 2.9% interest rate from the dealers financing. I was able to negotiate for including all weather mats, a roof rack, and the classic subaru rear bumper cover. In the grand scheme of things, I feel like this isn't too bad, but I'm wishing I would have skipped the warranty.

Did I make a good choice? What do you guys think? Not like I can go backwards, but I feel like I need some validation here, LOL.

Just got a used 24 Crosstrek. Is Starlink worth it?

I'm not sure if I can sign up for the free years of Starlink or if I have to subscribe and pay. The vehicle only has 13k miles. Is it worth going through the trouble? Does the previous owner still have some control over my vehicle?

I did this today

EDIT: I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and consideration explaining the technical implications of the setup without being overly judgmental. As noted this setup is well below 300 lbs, although it's is 10 inches from the bumper not six which has additional implications. I do have an acquaintance who has the same setup and runs dirtbike all the time on a 2025 Crosstrek wilderness. He inspired me to try this out. Again thanks for all your kind words an explanations. I'll keep them in consideration as this is more of a experiment than the normal way I transport bikes which is in a full size Dodge 2500..

Tried out putting the dirtbike on the Crosstrek today. Bike is 2022 KTM 300XCW, weighs about 240lbs wet and MotoTote rack is about 40lbs, so I'm well under 500lbs max weight of my Torklift hitch. Car is definitely squatting, maybe 1" or so in front vs the normal rake. Drove fine although it kinda felt more sluggish on the freeway, changing lanes and stuff. Bike tires are outside the body so I definitely felt some drag.

Anyone else haul dirtbikes on their Crosstrek? Thinking right off the bat I should get stiffer suspension in the rear at least. This is 26 Wilderness totally stock.
