‘26 vs see if the ‘27 replaces the awful infotainment

I’m pretty sold on a Crosstrek Hybrid and could swing for it this week. I could also just hold tight for a couple of months, though…

As summer drags on, it seems the dealers near me are all willing to give 10% off MSRP across the board on any trim/options I want without having to beg for it. Maybe a bit more once I twist their arm. I imagine that won’t be the case the minute the ‘27s drop.

The only real update I’d care about is getting the damned infotainment tablet ripped out and replaced with something sensible. How bad has it been for folks? Is it worth dealing with for the discounts & getting a car sooner, or would you wait at this point?

Yes, yes, always something better around the corner.. but in this case the laggy tablet is my only complaint about the car.

You asked here it is they look even better on the carpet but the rain is already ruining it

So I finally got around to upgrading my interior setup like everyone here suggests, but it’s been pouring in the Pacific Northwest all week and my passenger side is already a total puddle.

The main problem is the dead pedal area. The water just runs straight off my boots, hits the top edge of the liner, and leaks underneath onto the actual factory carpet. Now I have a damp spot under the mat that’s probably going to start smelling like mildew if I don't dry it out this weekend.

I’m looking at options from WeatherTech, Husky, 3W, and TuxMat to replace these, but I'm stuck. Does edge height or long-term wear matter more when you live in a constant rainy climate? I just want something that actually channels the water away instead of letting it pool right under my heels.

I’m looking at purchasing a used 2014 Crosstrek with 135,000 miles… I’m so clueless, is there something I should look for? Is this something that can handle being a commuter car?

2026 Limited Hybrid (Crosstrek)

No interior rear hatch release, and the fob button makes the lights blink. Odd that.

So no rear hatch release?

Trying to understand my 2023 Crosstrek rollover—has anyone had a similar experience?

I'm hoping to hear from other Subaru owners who may have experienced something similar.

I was involved in a single-vehicle rollover in my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport AWD (approximately 19,000 miles). Thankfully, I was wearing my seat belt and walked away without any serious injuries, although the vehicle was declared a total loss.

The accident happened in the morning on a dry road. I was driving on a narrow street with a parked SUV on my side of the road. My speed is probably b/w 20-30 mph. An oncoming vehicle had just passed, and I remember being concerned about contacting the parked SUV. I believe I may have steered left while trying to give it more clearance. The next thing I knew, my Crosstrek rolled over and came to rest on the driver's side. All of the airbags deployed, and Starlink automatically contacted me and helped dispatch the police and an ambulance. A few pedestrians came over and helped me walk out through the rear hatch. The parked SUV sustained only very minor scratches, but my vehicle was declared a total loss.

I'm not assuming there was a vehicle defect or blaming Subaru. In fact, I'm very grateful that the vehicle protected me. I believe the airbags and the integrity of the passenger compartment helped prevent more serious injuries. I really loved this car and was saddened to lose it. During the time I owned it, I had never experienced any mechanical problems. I am just puzzled by the rollover, and simply trying to learn whether anyone else has experienced a similar type of accident.

If you've had a similar experience with a Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, or another Subaru SUV, I'd really appreciate hearing:

  • Model year and trim
  • Approximate speed
  • Road and weather conditions
  • What happened immediately before the rollover
  • Whether Subaru inspected the vehicle or downloaded the Event Data Recorder (EDR) data
  • Whether Subaru opened a customer care case
  • Whether you ever learned what contributed to the crash

Thank you in advance. I'm genuinely trying to better understand the circumstances surrounding my accident, and I appreciate any experiences you're willing to share.

Apple CarPlay problems

2025 Crosstrek Sport here. I’ve had this problem before, where the CarPlay icon just disappears from the screen. I’ve try all the common sense fixes, and none of the work. I just wait patiently until it returns on its own, usually weeks, sometimes a month or two. Anyway, it just happened again. But this time I noticed that the “weather widget” on the top of the screen is now blank. I get the “weather not available” message.

This two problems gotta be related. Why is it that the weather widget doesn’t load? I would assume that it might be the fault of signal it’s receiving but I’ve been thru all the screen menus and haven’t found anything useful. Any ideas as to what’s going on here? FWIW, I subscribe to Elon’s remote start app for $5/month. Apple CarPlay sucks so much.

I was given WRX wheels

I'd like some feedback on what I should do. One of the wheels has curb rash all over the lip of the rim. I'm debating on just leaving as is and installing them or fixing the curb rash and painting them bronze. I don't want to spend the +/- 800$ to powder coat them so I'd be doing spray paint, but that's where I'm hesitant since it only lasts a couple of years.

Finally did it! 😄

Been wanting to go down to 15 inch rims for a while and the Toyos went on sale this 4th of July. Absolutely loving the look and the handling on dirt is incredible. If anyone is thinking about doing the same, absolutely do it! Worth every penny.

Whooshing sound when pressing Brakes

When I press my brakes, theres like a whooshing sound coming from the brake area everytime. I had my Brake fluid flushed by a reputable garage a year ago.

Was wondering what I should do if i wanted to fix it myself if i do have the tools? Does it just need air flushed out or something?

The brake fluid looks pretty good in the reservoir, is there an easy way to fix it?

First New Car

My old 2015 Outback rusted out so I took the plunge and got my first brand new car, it’s a 2026 Crosstrek Premium with only 12 miles on it.

Got in a little over our heads shortly after these photos were taken but still had fun on the 4th.

We've come full circle in our outdoor adventures. I currently have anxiety thinking about some of the stuff we got up to in our first gen Honda CR-V 🤣

We've gone from just getting in the car and driving to eek long backpacking trips back to driving forest roads just to see what's out there.

Doing an “idle re-learn” changed the way my car drove for the better.

I used to get this weird lurch when going from 0-10mph. It was worse when the AC was on. It kind of felt like a torque converter locking up too soon.

Now it drives totally differently and the lurch is seemingly entirely gone. 10/10 no notes.

2016 CVT @ 80,000 miles.

Last Weekend’s trip to San Onofre, CA

Hello, All. I just wanted to share some pics of my 24’ “Panda” CTW. This is my first Subaru, and I am really enjoying this platform. I hope to post more pics in the near future. ✌️

Buying a higher mileage vehicle

Hi- we’re thinking of purchasing a 21 crosstrek with 130k miles for our college bound daughter. The Carfax shows regular maintenance every 5000ish miles at a Subaru dealer. We’re pretty religious w regular service w our vehicles. We’d love for this car to make it to 200+k miles. Make me not feel crazy for possibly buying this car.
