Me Not Cleaning my Plate in 1979

I didn’t like crust or egg whites. Dunking toast in soft egg yokes is yummy! I like the crust now and don’t hate the whites but still give them to my husband or pets if he’s not around. 😊

Edited to add due to a few comments made about abuse.

I have never felt abused only loved. I’m sorry if this post triggered any one. I thought it was funny and that so many in my generation can relate to it.

“I can’t take you anywhere. “ 🙄

I’m normally not very gassy but when I am it’s usually in public. Normally when I fart I just sit there pretending to be ignorant of while being embarrassed af. The last time it happened, I was in the waiting room for a speech therapy appt. (I also have throat cancer and a trach, fun times…🙄)

Anyway, my stoma betrayed me and farted so loud it was obvious it came from me. I looked at the person closest to me and said “I can’t take you anywhere!” They looked at me like “WTF?” I laughed and just said “Sorry, I’m just kidding. I have a colostomy and I can’t control it.”

She laughed and every one else nearby chuckled too. It felt so much better to explain it than sitting there mortified. I actually got the idea from my lymphedema therapist at a previous appt when I complained about farting in the waiting room. I can’t wait to tell her I actually used it. 🤣

Edit to add that I’m a 50 yr old woman. I don’t understand why I get gassy or why my output changes because I depend solely on a feeding tube so my diet doesn’t change. It’s weird. I got an emergency colostomy the day before I was suppose to start cancer treatment. It’s been a rough fucking year so you gotta try and laugh about it sometimes. It makes it a little bit easier.

Intubation Without Sedation

5 months after completing Radiation/Chemo for SCC of the piriform sinus, I went into respiratory failure due to swelling and had to have an emergency trach.

I had to be intubated without sedation. I’m still traumatized by it. Has anyone else gone through that? How was your experience?

Radiation pretty much destroyed my throat. While my last biopsy came back showing no cancer, (PET scan looked like I probably still had cancer but it was all the damage from radiation showing up)

I didn’t understand at the time how long term and ongoing that damage is. If I would have known that I would have just went straight to palliative care and then hospice. I’ve always been a hard no on getting a laryngectomy but they radiate you with that too. I was also floored by having to get a colostomy right before I started treatment.

I’m so fucking sick of being so miserable. 🤬

*Edit to add that I also have a huge parastomal hernia and a feeding tube. I haven’t eaten anything since Sept. I’m hangry too! 🤣
