Premies Need Cuddles

Premies Need Cuddles

I saw this video regarding twins and the power of skin-to-skin.

I have often seen parents of multiples complain about their kids crying excessively in the early months and some view this as a normal part of the process of twin parenting.

I have had a growing suspicion that these may be cases of babies who were in need of skin-to-skin.

For context, our twins were born at 34 weeks. 1 week nicu and 1 regular ward.

The hospitals in our country encourage kangaroo mother care due to a shortage of incubators.

Our kids never cried while we did the skin-to-skin. But when we tried putting clothes on them too early, they grew fussy to the point we thought they were sick and took them to a pediatrician. She advised us to remove the clothing and continue kmc. And they returned to being the calm babiea they were when we started kmc again.

I realise this post may trigger a lot of people. But for the new parents, I hope you try this out and see if it helps.
