Yesterday morning, on a train in France, I saw a girl crying.
I felt really sorry for her, and I thought about going over and talking to her, but I didn’t.
I was afraid that maybe she wanted to be alone. I also worried that, since I’m a guy, she might misunderstand my intentions. I barely speak French, so I couldn’t even be sure she would understand me if I tried to speak English.
And honestly, I didn’t even know what I could say. Something like the usual “Everything will be okay”? But how could I know that? I had no idea what had happened to her. Maybe something had happened that simply couldn’t be undone. How could I possibly tell her that everything would be okay?
So I just left her alone.

If you’ve ever cried in public, did anyone around you try to help you? If they did, what did they do or say? And did it actually help?
I’m asking people who have been in that situation because I genuinely want to know: is it better to try to talk to someone who is crying, or should you just leave them alone?
I feel terrible that I didn’t do anything or even try to talk to her. Maybe I could have made her feel a little less alone, even if I couldn’t actually help with whatever was happening.

I really hope she will be okay.

I’m planning my 12-day summer trip to France. So, here is what I’m thinking: 3 nights in Nice, 1 night in Marseille, half-day in Nîmes, 1 night in Carcassonne, half-day in Toulouse, 2 nights in Bordeaux, 5 nights in Paris.

I don’t have a driver license, so I’ll be using public transport. And I keep thinking that 3 nights in Nice might be not enough (considering that I want to visit nearby towns). But if I take 4 nights, I’ll have to cut 1 night in Bordeaux. Maybe, you would say that 5 nights in Paris is a lot for that trip, but I’ve been there already and I really fell in love with that city, so I wanna spend a lot of time in Paris.

Any suggestions or recommendations? I’d really appreciate your feedback :)
