Presence through doing nothing?

Hi, lovely people!

My entire life I've been trying to escape the present task by doing something self-sabotaging instead. It's been a dream of mine to be like those students who work all day. If they can do it, so can I. I've been listening to people like Tolle, journaling etc, trying to finally find a solution. Here's what I came up with:

In any given moment, you can either:
- self-sabotage (bad habit)
- take action (move forward)
- do nothing (stare at the walls, go on a walk)

Taking action is really difficult for me because I'm untrained and overstimulated. As such, what if I stop trying to take action and instead simply remove the self-sabotage route. So, the entire day, I'm only allowed to alternate between doing nothing or taking action, but never to do anything bad. That way, taking action would actually become easier, and I'd slowly try to integrate good habits in the circuit.

Do you think this would make me more present and hard working? Did you encounter a similar problem in your own life?

Thanks for reading!

The mind is awful at predicting

Hi, lovely people!

I always struggled with taking action. I would see other people's accomplishments and think I could never get there. Recently, I had a moment of insight:

The mind is awful at predicting your future performance because inspiration comes by doing. Not only that, but believing a bad prediction actually makes it a reality. It's a big, fat lie.

Think of all the life changing moments that happened because you accidentally stumbled upon something.

I believe this is what "not focusing on the past and future" means. What do you think?

Going with the flow even when it's uncomfortable

Hi lovely people,

I recently considered surrendering to the flow of life, just letting things happen, without constantly worrying and intervening.

However, right now it's 4am, and i'm sleepless, in a dark room. Nothing i can do but wait. And this lack of movement is making me really uncomfortable. What am i supposed to do? Just endure it? It feels oppressive.

I just fail to see any beauty in... whatever this is.

How would you handle this? Thank you

I cannot, for the life of me, work when I need to

Hi, lovely people! Hope you're doing well.

I've thankfully managed to calm down my bad habits by telling myself nothing will happen if I simply abstain. That said, whenever I sit down to work, I feel a tremendous amount of resistance, like I'm physically sick. I feel like finally overcoming this issue is the last challenge I need to overcome.

Did you find yourself in a similar situation? If so, what did you do to finally act?

Thank you very much.
