First-time cat owners lookig for advice before adopting a kitten
Hi everyone! My partner and I are planning to adopt our first cat soon, and we would really appreciate some advice from experienced cat owners. 🐈
We live in an apartment that’s around 65m2 and I’m wondering if that’s enough space for a cat. We were thinking about getting one male kitten, but my partner thinks maybe getting two cats would be better so they keep each other company. Since we’ve never had cats before, I’m worried that two might be overwhelming at first. What do you think?
The kitten will probably only be a few months old. What are the most important steps when adopting a young cat for the first time? We plan to buy everything necessary beforehand — food, litter box, toys, scratching post, etc.
I also have some questions:
• When should kittens get vaccinated?
• When is the best time to neuter/spay them?
• Do indoor cats need baths, and if yes, how often?
• Any important beginner mistakes we should avoid?
Another thing I worry about is whether it’s sad for a cat to live only indoors. I live in the city center with a lot of traffic . Do any of you walk your cats outside with a harness/leash, or is keeping them indoors completely okay if they have enough stimulation and playtime?
Thanks so much in advance! :)
