Booked 3 rooms at FBH in Singapore later this year for a trip using my plat card ($450 credit still intact)

Amex Travel had $13,337 for 3 rooms, USD$125 per room + usual FHR perks.

Booking direct with the hotel was $9000 + a guaranteed room upgrade (unlike the FHR caveat of if available). Even after the travel credit, hotel credit, I am struggling to understand the value of Amex travel. FBH doesn’t fall within one of the hotel membership gold status categories, but the price was too good to say no.

Is there ever value in using Amex Travel? What is it actually worth spending the $450 on?
