Engagement Advice 33m 33f
I (33m) have been engaged to (33f) for 5 months. This was after a lot of pressure to get engaged since we’ve been together for a while.
I have a big fear of being controlled, and my feelings are sounding alarms. I recently separated from the military so the transition has been difficult on me as well because I’m in a new city, society, and career.
In the past few months I’ve learned;
She chose to pick a wedding date as soon as she could because she was afraid I’d leave. (triggered fear of being controlled)
I also found out when we first met she lied to get me into a serious relationship
Her previous ex went to therapy and then broke up with her. She claimed it was because he was no longer attracted to her but I find that hard to believe because she’s beautiful and very fit. Her previous ex before that said he couldn’t handle the stress (she had family issues) and broke up with her. This was 8 years ago though
She’s considering going to another school program, and my schedule already revolves around hers
Im going to therapy to sort this out. I am insane to consider calling off the engagement for the reasons above? We’ve been together for 6 years, but 3-4 were distance and I recently moved in.
