MOVA Lidax Ultra 800: first experience and questions/issues

Hello everyone,

I I installed today the Lidax 800. My garden has 2 separate/ unconnected areas. Included is a picture of the main area. My garden has a lot edge to surface ratio, with a bunch of tight corners and niches, and overhanging leaves and thin branches which will complicate the navigation along most of the edges.

My first impressions:

- packaging is good, good paddings. Funny though, opening the box I had a whiff of "new car" smell. Indeed, the back of the robot looks like a sport German car. 😄

- Robot was charged already. Connection, setup and updates were quick and easy.

- Mapping: it definitively has an impact on downstream robot management. I did some quick testing and remapping, and depending on how the manual mapping is done, the quality of the navigation along the edges will change. More to explore.

- Cutting is great. Very, very quiet and a stripe effect already.

- Navigation seems quite precise. An interesting couple of movements when the Sun was straight into the camera at Sunset, but no impact on the quality of the overall area.

- I split the garden in 3 contiguous areas, to have an efficient navigation. Certain settings (safe navigation, overhang areas) really impact the behavior of the robot. I am getting close to what I wanted... but not yet.

TO BE ASSESSED
- Cornering and change of direction are... aggressive. The weight of the robot combined with the aggressive wheel threads are worrying me thinking when the soil will be soaked.

- Size of the robot: it is big! and I am not sure I will find the way to have it navigate a a couple of niches I have (they are not apparent in the map because I did not manage to map-drive it into those).

- Ultratrim: due to abundant edges, this is a feature I am looking forward to. The 3 cm limit would be acceptable if I can run thee edges once a week, and avoid the ultratrim for the rest of of days. BUT: Because I have divided the garden in 3 areas, if Ultratrim is enabled, ALL edges are cut with Ultratrim. Even the shared edges between areas (e.g. Area 1 and 2), where the cut should be at normal height. Is there a way to AVOID this, and only apply Ultratrim along the real edges?

More to follow if there is any interest or suggestion!

Ecovacs GOAT O1200: will it work for me? Non-fenced area, separate zone, ignore leaves

Hello everyone. I am looking to a new mower, coming from perimeter wire which works well for, until it doesn't altogether.

I've been eyeing the GOAT for a while, and the lidar + the trim edge look appealing to me.

My garden is C-shaped, so I have a lot of edges. Most of them are not flush with a barrier though (where the trimmer seem to struggle). I have wifi coverage all-over. All areas are completely flat, around 200 m2. So I think the mower might be just right.

I have some questions to current/ previous owners as I have a couple of concerns:
- my garden has a some portions of the perimeter which are not fenced (see pic). I need to be SURE it will not run into the neighbor's garden, or down the stairs. How reliable would be the virtual no-go barrier to prevent it leaves my property?

- I have a long edge line which has a 10 cm wide lining of stones (see pic). Will the trimming be effective along these lines?

- Some plants have leaves extending above the grass. I want the mower to ignore the leaves and push through to mow the grass underneath? Can the settings allow ignoring the leaves as obstacles.

- I have a higher area which is not accessible to the mowers. I am used to move it there manually up some stairs. Will the GOAT be able to mow a defined area there? It seems YES, based on an answer from another thread, but checking for direct experience.

Unfortunately, I cannot return opened and tested equipment, so I want to be sure before pulling the trigger. Thanks in advance everyone.
