youtu.bePSA: There is blatant market manipulation going on right now on Cardmarket. Don't fall for the FOMO
Several Riftbound singles (especially OVN cards) and sealed products have jumped 100%+ in a very short period of time, despite there being no meaningful change in actual player demand or supply.
The pattern of these investment slop bros is always the same:
- Buy out low-population listings.
- Post on YouTube, Discord, X, etc. about how "undervalued" these cards or products are.
- Create FOMO by showing the new inflated listings.
- Sell into the hype for a profit.
We've already seen this happen with GGEZ Teemo, Worlds 2025 products, and several other items. The same group of "investment" content creators keeps pushing the narrative that everything is "the next big opportunity."
The problem is that Cardmarket's relatively thin supply makes it easy to move prices. Just because the cheapest listings disappear doesn't mean there's genuine demand at those new prices.
The funniest part? This strategy doesn't always work. Look at the French Altar of Unity promo. People were hyping it as a scarce investment, buying it up, and then Riot announced it would be distributed at multiple events across France this year. Anyone who bought in expecting easy gains got burned.
My advice is simple: don't FOMO into these price spikes.
If nobody buys at the inflated prices, the people trying to pump the market end up sitting on expensive inventory instead of flipping it to the next buyer. That's how these schemes lose momentum.
