On Nibbler Mangos
First of all: Yes it’s annoying when they keep nipping your ankles no matter how many multitool bonks they give you.
But from a more positive perspective, I absolutely love their AI. In Subnautica, basically every creature would just make a beeline for you the second it saw you. It felt a little unrealistic that all these wild animals had no better hunting tactics than “press w”.
The Nibbler Mangos actually have proper pack hunting behaviors! You can see them in the distance hunting other fish in groups of 3-4, and when they attack players, they frequently circle around the player and attack from blindspots.
Sure, it looses some of its intimidation factor when you realize they pack all the punch of a wet tissue, and it gets frustrating when they come back for another bite every 10 seconds. But in terms of unique hunting mechanics, the Mangos feel a lot more alive than most creatures on 4546B. God I wish the Biters had these pack behaviors.
