Wakemaker Rework

Right now the wakemaker is suffering from the same issue as the seaglide in the first two games, it makes all other speed modifiers irrelevant.

it simply sets the speed at 6m/s regardless of other modifiers. your fins, speed enhancing biomods (other than dash its just built diffrent) or in the original game the light oxygen tank as well as the speed debuff from the reinforced dive suit are completly irrelevant.

the solution is simple: nerf the wakemaker a little but make it add its speed rather than set it. that way those modifiers put in for balancing will actually do something and heck, why not let the player swim faster than a stock tadpole with a full speed build?

Well that sucks

Must have been a landslide

New update buried my little metal farming outpost in new level geometry. Guess I need to refund the base and find a new place for this setup.

UPDATE: apparently base refunds don't apply to storage boxes attached to external hardpoints. I have a bunch of stuff that's now just inside this rock forever.

Can't play

Basically I had the game since launch and yet I still haven't passed the intro because it keeps on crashing. I've tried everything to fix it and nothing worked, i'm just frustrated. I'm just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

Test Dev Base

This isn't something that will be coming to game (therefore not marked as a spoiler) but I thought it would be really cool to share.

These images showcase a base made by the developers that was never intended to be seen- Yet it's still more cozy than anything i've built!

Permanent Pings

I have these permanent player pings stuck in my game, and they haven't gone away for multiple hours. They are slowly getting annoying to look at. Is there a way to get rid of them or anything? (Spoilers just because it shows endgame stuff)

What if the Boss Music was proceeded by Boss Silence?

One of the things I enjoyed most about Subnautica was the fact that our big friendly safety reapers could come out of absolutely nowhere. Zero warning and infinite intensity. And it doesn't feel like we have that same jump scare potential in SN2 since boss music starts playing whenever a leviathan is near.

But what if instead of launching right into the boss music, the game just ramped up the silence? You know how the woods get quiet when there's a predator nearby? I'd love to see something like that. Maybe the game music slowly fades and the ambient noises become muffled or something. It would give you that feeling of "there's something out there and I'm being watched" without immediately setting off alarm bells. And once the leviathan comes into view, maybe then the boss music?

Just an idea. What do you all think?

pda simply not working when starting a new game?

after starting a new subnautica playthrough the pda gets stuck after trying to boot? i have no clue how to fix this? and google is beyond useless any chance this is happening to anyone else? i have to force close the game from steam because the game becomes unresponsive

Status of the game? Play or wait?

I really can’t wait to play the game, but want the full experience.

I know the game is still on early acces, but is it finished enough to play or still wait?

This game is gorgeous

Ignore the weird aspect ratio. I love popping up to the surface every once in a while after spending days deep in the dark depths. The sky is always doing something incredible.

started compiling a map of the EA build's wreck blueprints

been replaying the EA build and honestly I kept losing track of which wreck had which blueprint. every run was the same "wait, was it Root Canyon or the Ancient Structures again?"

so I've been slowly putting together a map. blueprints, minerals, biome depths, base spots. nothing fancy, just trying to get the spawns down so I stop wasting dives.

it's still a work in progress. if you've found something worth adding or I've got a spot wrong, lmk — I'd rather get it right with other people than keep guessing

once it's a bit more solid I'll drop the link here
