Looking to start!

Hello!

I’ve been looking into DB as a new system for me to build with but I’m not sure where to start as far as research for starter builds. I have an A1 and have printed other things in the past, but would love having the flexibility to put together dungeons/city spaces for my DND groups. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Cragmaw Cave

I put together my bastardized version of Cragmaw Cave for my players with all the foam pieces I’ve made over the years. It’s crazy to think that I don’t actually have any goblin minis. I’ll need to fix that! I usually proxy those with other miniatures.

At higher levels, how do you replace a PC in a way that makes sense?

Hello!

My campaign has entered its third and final arc after two years of play. The group has reached level 11 and will likely get to 13, maybe 14th level depending on how long they take. These are now heroes renown across their kingdom, with significant power.

Battles are only going to get more challenging from here on, so I’m curious how you all approach replacing one PC in the event of a player death. Canonically, there wouldn’t be anything near as powerful just hanging around potentially.

Do you ignore this fact and bring in a new person? Do you power level them after a battle or two?

Edit/Update- holy heck, lots of great responses and engagement! Thank you! I wanted to note a few things I’ve seen:

  1. Resurrection: this has always been an option in my games, and obviously more attainable at higher levels. That being said, in my game resurrection isn’t a guarantee. In addition to the material components, I utilize an ability check system that utilizes other PCs to provide something to the ritual. Three checks with increasing DC. We had a PC death around level 5, and that player was successfully resurrected.

  2. The World is Big: this makes total sense and likely the best option. One the of the reasons I asked is a player was interested in potentially picking up the mantle of an NPC that is currently in game guarding the king, so I was trying to formulate ideas on how their power level could come into play. As many people posted, with increased renown, the chances of people stepping up to join forces increases.
