UAE credit card debt – AED 50K+ debt, salary AED 4,500. What should I do?
Hi everyone,
I need advice from anyone who has dealt with UAE credit-card debt/collections.
I have 4 cards with total debt of around AED 53,000+:
- ENBD: ~AED 26,000
- Aafaq: ~AED 17,500
- FAB: ~AED 7,500
- ADCB: ~AED 5,000
My salary is AED 4,500/month, and after rent and basic family expenses, I have very little left.
Banks/collection agencies are contacting me and mentioning legal action. I am not refusing to pay and have been requesting hardship settlements, but the amounts offered are unaffordable.
For anyone with similar UAE experience:
- What happens if a civil case is filed?
- Is it better to keep negotiating?
- Can significant hardship discounts be obtained?
- Are there legitimate debt-help organizations?
Any practical advice would be greatly appreciated.
