General Pencil Company Semi-Hex Advertisements - Part 2
It's America's 250th anniversary this weekend, figured I'd post more advertisements from an American company that still makes pencils. I think these are all from the 1920s.

It's America's 250th anniversary this weekend, figured I'd post more advertisements from an American company that still makes pencils. I think these are all from the 1920s.
Here are some Koh-I-Noor Pencil advertisements I came across. These are earlier ones from 1892-1909. I'll post newer ones later. I like the slogan "Pencils are like Maxim's Guns"
I've casually thought about buying an old fan for a long time but someone's post on the pencil forum last week finally pushed me to buy one. I chose Emerson as they seem to be the one to buy and I think this one is from the mid-1920s. The wiring seems like it may have been replaced, except for the wiring that goes from the switch to the motor which doesn't look as nice. It runs fine and oscillates. My question is do I need to think about re-wiring it? What oil do I use? Do I need to mess with the grease for the oscillator at all? The only thing I've done is wipe down the black paint with Singer oil, blades are untouched. This is my first fan so any help is appreciated.

I've been doing some searching through vintage advertisements for Koh-I-Noor, some which I will post later. First I thought I would post what I found interesting, that they seem to have been the choice for use on expeditions. I wonder why they don't proudly state this anymore? Seems like a missed marketing opportunity.
I was looking at buying some Koh-I-Noor 1500 pencils but I've read that they tend to be really hard. Is buying an HB for general use a bad idea? Should I go with a B or 2B instead? I'm not much of a pencil person so it probably doesn't matter that much but they are harder to find/more expensive in the USA so that's why I'm asking before I buy.
I'm not really a pencil person, but I recently bought some General Pencil Company Semi-Hex pencils. Fit and finish was below a Musgrave pencil, but I like the idea of the company still being around, unlike most others like Ticonderoga which is a name stuck on a foreign pencil. I like old advertising so I figured I'd share these. You can see the covered wagon on the box (though a little different today) dates back 100 years. Also a Kimberly advertisement at the end.
I believe that this Masaki Pencil Manufacturing is the company that would become Mitsubishi Pencil Company. It was apparently Masaki and Ichikawa Pencil Company at the time these were published in about 1917.
