Muchas gracias

Got these while on vacation

I’ve been becoming more interested in pencils since I started going to college for art. While on vacation I found these in a paper store what are y’all’s thoughts? I was very rushed because my mother dose not understand pencils.

I am also looking for a nice pencil sharpener and case as I usually just put mine in a rubber band

Help me find this pencil (please)!

Last night I accidentally sat on my daughter’s favorite pencil and broke it. I did not think it was a big deal until she started telling me how it was part of a stationary Christmas present and she’s never seen one like it before… many tears were shed.

The pencil: normal graphite, pink internal wood, aqua exterior with divots that expose the wood. Eraser is a rainbow.

I spent thirty minutes looking for a replacement and can’t find one anywhere! The only ones I found that were similar did not come with erasers.

Does anyone have a clue?

I designed a parametric holder in OpenSCAD with conical internal bases to keep my pencils from breaking their leads in standard cups & holders

Hello Reddit.

I designed this for my desk in OpenSCAD with a conical taper at the bottom of each tube. Instead of the pencil "standing" on its lead core (which shatters it if you drop it in), it rests on the wood shoulder or the metal ferrule.

It's fully parametric, so I can swap it from 4 tubes to 12 (6-8 probably looks best to not be too overcrowded) depending on how many pencils this might be required for.

The Vintage Factor: That golden-orange pencil on the right is a 30+ year old Koh-I-Noor from Czechoslovakia. It's an artifact from the past, so this was mostly an over-engineered way to keep it safe and be a showcase on the desk.

Blackwing 2 thrifted?

I just found this little collection of pencils (pen is mine) at a thrift store today. It looks like they may glow in the dark? Anyone familiar with this version of Blackwing? I've never seen this model. All my others have been acquired with packaging. These were just jangling around in a ziplock bag.

Tsunago without the tsunago

I got to thinking about the tsunago pencil sharpener and seeing how hard it is to bore a hole I thought a drill would do better. Now I need an idea on how to cut the pencil to act as the male end for the female. Maybe a drill bit but I’m not sure which one, any ideas?

Help recognizing grandma’s favorite pencil ✏️

Hi everyone! I’m trying to identify the brand of this tiny pencil. It’s my grandmother’s favorite pencil and she’s been using it for years, but now it’s almost finished and we’d love to find another one like it.

It’s a short black wooden pencil with a gold-colored ferrule/top and a white flat eraser. Unfortunately there’s no visible logo or text left on it, only the “HB” inscription.

Does anyone recognize the brand or model? Even a clue would mean a lot. Thank you! ✏️❤️

Why I don't use pencil extenders for stumps

Got a Tsunago pencil sharpener and I have been using it since (instead of pencil extenders).

Main reason I don't like pencil extenders is that I can't sharpen the pencil easily using a hand crank sharpener because the extender is often too wide to fit in the hole.

Second reason is that it's just troublesome to take the pencil out and in every time for sharpening it.

With the Tsunago sharpener, I put 2 shorter pencils together and I can use and sharpen it like a normal pencil for quite a while. Sometimes I just put a regular pencil and a stump and use that weirdly long pencil because it still beats using a short pencil or a pencil extender in terms of convenience and comfort.

Wondering if there are any alternatives (for a non-woodworker) to connect 2 pencils together like the Tsunago easily

Did I get enough Japanese pencils?

Forgot why I have 2 boxes of 10H, those 2 alone would probably last a lifetime.

Pocket pencils-point guards

These work well if you want to use them with your own pencil or as a pocket pencil. Relatively cheap compared to other options.

Staedtler Yellow Pencil 143 Issues

I was reviewing the Staedtler Yellow Pencil 134 HB on my YouTube channel today. It has been my long term favorite pencil and I have been using it for more than 10 years.

However, the pencil has changed in these years and it makes me very sad. The lead and the paint are completely changed and it is not the same pencil any more. Just the weight feels the same. Everything else has changed. They sell it in India at a huge premium over other brands.

During the review, I found that the latest batch that I ordered is full of misaligned cores! I have 4 boxes and all are full of terrible Quality Check.

I was completely bummed out and disappointed. Have written to Staedtler as this is not acceptable.

Meanwhile, has anyone else seen issues in Staedtler pencils?

I am leaving the video link here in case you want to see more of the issue around sharpening and lead breakage.

@Mods - In case this is not appreciated, do let me know and I will remove the link. Many thanks.

Vintage Johann Faber 382 pencils

An oversized pencil barrel with a smooth graphite lead. Despite its advanced age, it works perfectly. Found from a flea market, cost about 2-2.5 dollars for 12 pencils :)

Does anybody know where I can buy these?

Usually, you can only find the ones with only white erasers, and I was wanting to find the ones with red and gold. Where can I buy from these specifically?
