Is my job surveiling us with card readers?
Hello, I want start of saying I'm not as tech savvy as most folks here. I just figured this sub would know about card scanners.
My job recently changed our card readers (HID MultiClass SE) to HID Signo 20 PIV Readers and I'm curious if there's any significant difference between the two? The slimmer design is not a factor for where these are located and the readers weren't failing in any fashion. They also didn't change readers for any of the internal doors. The Signos are all at the entrance and staff entrance doors.
There's been a recent shift from the higher ups to threaten staff with punishment for excessive callouts. However, they refuse to define what standard they use to define excessive. I got the same conversation for 15 callouts in 4 months as a coworker who had 10 all year. Specific to the scanners calling out sick for the day is counted the same as being one or more minutes late.
Sorry if this is too off topic for this sub and I can definitely repost somewhere else. I just figured since I just want to understand the difference between HID MultiClass SE and HID Signo 20 PIV readers. I also am identifying the new ones based on site and what's available in my country on HID's site because the new ones don't have any serial numbers or ID like the old ones do.
I'm also interested in what the general cost difference is too? The city has issued a budget cut to us and I'm morbidly curious what range of money got spent on something to further track us over what the community actively asks us to fund.
