AAMC is ableist

I got my accommodations approved mid April and called Pearsonvue to schedule my test for May 22nd or May 30th. Not to mention, I had to wait more than 3 freaking months on a response for my accommodations and began the process in November.

They had me submit requests every 3-5 days and no spots showed up. Then May 22nd and May 30th roll around and still no spots. The earliest they had was in June 12-13th… in freaking Vegas!!! I live in Arizona. Now I’m not only having to stress about this stupid test and the application, but also on affording a hotel and a flight. I’ve also reduced my hours because I need extra time to study. I don’t mean to sound entitled but how it is possible that they don’t have spots open in ANY testing center in the entire state of Arizona for the entire month of May… when spots for normal testing conditions open up all the time??? Why aren’t people with disabilities given the same opportunities as those without??? This is so freaking ableist and elitist. What a privilege it is to just afford a hotel and flight anytime you need to. This especially sucks for people who are disabled and low-income.
