First FL/Diagnostic

First FL 497. 124/125/124/124

HELP. I still have a couple chapters left of content review (C/P and B/B). Currently finishing up content review + doing JS Anki. I haven’t been doing anything for P/S. I haven’t started practice problem yet and I test on 9/4. I’m thinking UWORLD next for a month and then AAMC for the last month?? Or should I only do AAMC SB and QP? And is a 510-515 realistic?

McAT advice

Hi guys! I test on August 22nd. I took my first AAMC Unscored Full-Length and scored around a 485.
I did the worst in Psych/Soc (18/59) and the best in CARS (33/53). I also missed about 11 questions in Chem/Phys because I ran out of time.
I wanted to ask if it’s realistic to reach a 508–510 by test day if I: Take about one full-length exam each week
Complete the AAMC Section Banks and Question Packs in between, Start doing Anki every day (I’ve never used Anki before)
Do you think a 508–510 is achievable?

508-> 517 in 7 days????

Looking for help interpreting these scores. I did zero studying between these two FLs… everyone here says Kaplan maybe mildly deflates but I’m confused about this jump. Hard to believe the 517 is a fluke. Thoughts???

Both tests I followed timing to a T, took my breaks exactly as meant to, and ate/had coffee only at the right times. Only difference was that the first one I started around noon and the second one around 10am. Not testing til September but ??? Wondering what to think 🧐🧐🧐

EDIT TO ADD: I bought the 6 aamc tests, taking it in sept, and also bought the cheapest Kaplan package (I think 12 FL and 3000PQ). I’d be totally happy with a 517 on the real thing. Should I just take another real aamc now or wait til beginning of august as I was planning? Not that I would stop studying, but just to take some pressure off? Also I’ll add that I’m currently taking both physics with lab so I’m in class 18ish hours/week plus an hour commute there and back every day so I’m not really getting much real PQ practice in outside of FLs

Anyone else scaried to get their scores back?

Title. Took the mcat on 6/13 and scared as hell to get that score back next Tuesday. Chem/Phys was the hardest thing I've ever encountered but felt good about everything else. Idk I hope I'm overthinking it, but now that it's creeping up I'm getting nervous. Anyone else feel the same way?

EDIT: Grammatical and spelling errors.

BP 1-4 + HL Scores; How does this map AAMC? 522+ by Aug 21 Possible?

I’ve taken 5 Blueprint tests (4 FL and 1 HL) so far and I’m trying to get a realistic idea of where I might be at on AAMC.

FL C/P B/B CARS P/S Total
HL Diag. 128 128 125 131 512
1 129 129 125 128 511
2 129 128 124 130 511
3 129 128 127 129 513
4 129 129 125 130 513

For people who took Blueprint and then AAMC FLs, how did your scores compare by section?

I'm aware CARS may not exactly map so I got a 77% CARS diagnostic and 80% correct on UWorld. Both were done timed and testing conditions.

I'm shooting for a 522+ on August 21st but at this point I feel kind of stagnant and defeated.

MCAT Advice:

Just took my second FL( AAMC FL2), after 3 months of studying. Scored a 493, from a 490(Diagnostic score). Here’s my score breakdown: C/P:125 CARS: 121 B/B: 124 P/S: 123. My test date is August 21st. What should I be doing to bring my score up? For the past 3 weeks, have been doing Uwhirl(50 questions/day, but reviewing 10 question a day). Have also been doing Pankow Anki, and a Anki set I’ve created of missed concepts. And also how much time should I set apart to reviewing the FL? FYI I’m super slow at reviewing questions, like 10 questions takes me 3 hours 😭 Any advice is appreciated.

2.5 weeks out…need advice

hi premeds ☺️ i need a bit of advice. i test july 24, and did kaplan FL2 a few days ago which yielded the score shown here. at the beginning of my mcat journey, i thought it was 515+ or nothing, but i have truly been humbled by this exam. i wanted to know if anyone thinks it’s possible to score at least a 510 on Test Day.

my main issue is chem/phys, i cannot score above a low 120 for my life. does anyone have advice on quick points or strategies that would boost me to high 120s at least?

id love to hear some success stories about last minute point increases. i know other peoples experiences wont relate to my own, but its always nice to hear from people that have been in the same boat :)

thank you all

505 rn, what to expect

Started at a 491 on my diagnostic about a month ago. Just scored a 505 on Altius 5
C/P: 126
CARS: 126
B/B: 125
P/S: 128
B/B dropped 3 points from my average.

Any tips and realistic score expectations on AAMC?

MCAT in a month. Has anyone else's mental health taken a hit from studying?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

This isn't a post asking for study advice.

I've been studying for about 6 months. I use the Pomodoro method, take breaks, go to the gym, and I'm training to become a clinical assistant. I'm trying to do everything "right," but I feel like this process has completely worn me down.

Some days my head is throbbing after studying. My eyes get so strained from looking at a screen that I have to stop. During full-length exams I'll catch myself zoning out in the middle of passages, even after taking breaks and even after taking L-theanine. There are times where I put my head down and squirm in my seat because I don't want to reread the paragraph for the third time.

Outside of studying, I don't feel like myself anymore. I even feel guilty when I go for a run because it feels like I should be building my life instead of just preparing for it. Its become difficult to hold a conversation in the gym, because I spend so much time alone that conversations don't come as naturally anymore in the gym. The isolation has honestly been one of the hardest parts of this whole process.

I'm not asking if I should postpone my exam or change my study plan. I still want to give this exam my best effort. I'm just wondering if anyone else hit this point where they felt mentally exhausted and isolated. If you did, what helped you get through that last month, and did you feel like yourself again after the MCAT?

Prioritizing MCAT Retake vs US MD Applications

I'm a Canadian premed who didn't get into a Canadian MD school this last cycle. I'm applying to US schools for the first time and just submitted my US DO app. I haven't finished the US MD app, but I wanted to get some opinions before I put time and money into the application.

I have a 502 -> 500 MCAT. Yes, I know, the drop is a red flag to schools and imo the score isn't competitive for any US MD schools as a Canadian. I want to retake to be competitive for Canada (this is my priority). I am a BME major with really strong ECs and have a 3.81 GPA.

I'm currently working full-time, so I paused MCAT studying to do my applications. Now that I'm done, I'm deciding btwn continuing MCAT studying or churning out the US MD apps. My thought process is...what's the point in applying if my MCAT will probably get me rejected. I'm not sure what the process is from the schools' end. If I apply now, will my application just get held until I return a good MCAT score? If it gets held until they receive my MCAT, shouldn't I just wait until then to apply anyway? Since it is on a rolling admissions basis, I don't want to miss the admissions window by delaying my application to September, but also don't see the point in applying if my stats aren't great.

I think it is clear what I'm leaning towards, but I'd really appreciate some insight, whether it be reassurance for fomo from the US MD app lol or a justification for why I should apply.

Need help with C/P and B/B🙏

Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a great 4th of July. I am just posting because I wanted some advice on what I should do. I finished content review with Anking deck and I took FL1 last week and the diagnostic test today (accidently flipped the order). I am about 20% done with Uworld questions, and I am planning to test August 22nd. I just don't really know how to improve my C/P and B/B (as well as other sections). I am able to get through all the questions barely on time but this means I dont have anytime to go back and check the questions that I'm unsure about (which is a lot of them). Some of the C/P and B/P genuinelly seems impossible to me like I have no idea how people even figure it out in such little time, and I also always am really bad at finding the answers in the passages.

I Scored a 524 on my first try as a Non-Trad student. Ask me anything, I'll help how I can.

Hello everybody, I've scored a 524 on my first try while working full time ( 50 hours a week sometimes). Ask me anything and i'll answer as best I can. I'm also open to sharing my personal decks, study notes, strategies and anything you guys might need.

PS: If there is one thing you can take away from this post ( though it might seem hypocritical lol), is UNLESS you have a specific question about something, stay off this subreddit. Scrolling would be non productive and would only hurt your studying in many many ways.

7-week Schedule Help

Currently on Friday of the first week. Im doing content review using prof eman and corresponding anking, learning P/S through the anki and 300pg doc.

Starting first year of very heavy courseload program during the last 2 weeks of prep and i do not want to study the mcat during school.

Is this schedule good? should i do Uearth or Question pack bundle instead of section bank?

Im canadian and the school im applying to only requires 124 in each section, im only aiming for threshold.

any feedback/tips are much appreciated!

BP Diagnostic Advice

Took my half length blueprint diagnostic today and this was the results. Obvi my chem/phys is a red flag. Any advice for improvement?

This is my diagnostic before content review. I’ve seen online to use Yusuf videos for chem/phys, but I clearly have a very weak foundation.

Advice for upcoming MCAT and structure

I am currently booked for an MCAT on August 21, I began my journey testing at a 494 in January and got up to a 505, on January 23 but then while back at college for the Spring I did a minimal amount of study. 3 weeka ago I began reviewing content and scored a 502 and with just under 7 weeks until my planned exam date my goal is still to score 512+ and I can give 40-50+ hours a week and I guess I am looking for both assurance that this goal is possible and secondly any advice on how to go about it. I am going to begin the AAMC question banks and maintain my flashcarding and Anki daily as well as trying to passively read content in the evenings. I honestly think I still have content I am struggling with but if I spend more time reviewing and notetaking I fear it is time taken from improving my test taking skills.

I am a student athlete and capable of working hard but I want to know if people think this is achievable. My goal was originally 515+ but I think that could take a miracle at this point lol. any advice or support would be appreciated. I have access to all the kaplan resources + AAMC and Anki.

Thank you for anything you have to share

Mcat help

Hey guys, this is my first time using Reddit so I hope I’m doing this right. I’m taking my MCAT soon and honestly I’m really struggling with just UNDERSTANDING and getting the key points for the bio/biochem passages. Also with cars I feel like it’s either super easy for me, but the older more dense passages are what I really struggle with. lol like lowkey when I get what’s going on I don’t really have a problem, it’s just understanding the passage the key points of the passages. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting the gist of what’s happening.

I skipped the 4th of July last year to study for the MCAT. It wasn't worth it, and this is your permission to take the day off

Last summer I stayed home on the 4th to study while everyone I knew was out. I want to say it was some disciplined hero move, but I barely retained anything that day. If you stay home to work, all you're really going to be thinking about is what you're missing.

So for anyone who needs to hear it: take tomorrow off. The MCAT matters, it may be one of the most important tests of your life, but one day is not what decides it.

The guilt runs both ways. Grind all day half focused and you retain almost nothing. Take the day off and spiral about it at 10pm and you never actually rested either.

The middle ground: wake up early, knock out some Anki cards or a light review block, then close the laptop and go to the pool party or whatever. Be all the way there. Your mental health is part of your prep, not a break from it.

If you don't know how to fit rest days into your schedule without panicking, drop your test date and your resources and I'll help you map it out. Learning to schedule rest was the hardest part of my prep.

AAMC Material

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on how to approach and start the AAMC materials. I test exactly 6 weeks from today (08/14). I study full time, but have only done around 40% of the pankow deck. I'm hoping to complete this as soon as possible. Also, I am planning on taking a FL every week till test day (FL 2-6), so I will need one day to take the test, and the next day to review it each week.

I'm not really sure how to divide up all this AAMC material, and was looking for any tips or advice you guys have. I would like to complete all the material, is this feasible? What order should I complete this material in? Any advice you guys have is much appreciated. Thank you!
