Shows we watch for characters and for actors?
I’ve nobody to talk about this IRL so I’m gonna rant here. Recently I’ve been getting back to watching BLs again and catching up on my watchlist.
Watched Sammy’s Children’s Day and GODDAMN!!!!! I’m in love with everything about that show. So much in love that I’m devouring all the xizhao content in YouTube shorts. So much in love that I rewatched it the second time instantly. The plot, the characters, the pace, the cinematography, the tension, the world building, the story, everything was amazing. I’m in love if it wasn’t clear.
Right after, I watched Never Let Me Go bcz I absolutely love Pondphuwin and haven’t gotten around to watching NLMG yet. And honestly, I’m disappointed. I didn’t hate it. It was actually really nice. But would I have watched and most importantly finished it if it wasn’t starring pondphuwin? I don’t think so.
It made me wonder how many shows do we watch bcz the story is so compelling that we forget a world exists outside. And how many shows we watch bcz it has a cp we love. We aren’t here for the story, we’re here just for the real people we love, the actors.
My entry to BL world happened through Kinnporsche and I love that show to pieces. For the story and not the actors. Though rewatching it is hard bcz I love vegaspete story line and hate build so much.
Next on the list is Revenged Love. I need me some Chinese BL. They know what they’re doing.
PS- someone please hmu when Sammy’s Children’s Day novel is translated in English by Rosmei. I GOTS TO KNOW THE STORY!!!!!!!!
