Trying to decide between two scopes....astrophotography as well
So I bought a starsense lt80az off of FB marketplace. It's cool, but yeah, I definitely need an upgrade. I am so excited to actually get into this hobby. I live in a place where Bortle 2 is a 10 minute drive away and both my parents and in laws house are Bortle 2.
I sold some collectors books of mine and now have a budget of $600.
I think what I want is a Dob, and then a super budget astrophotography setup. I know Dobs cannot image DSOs but they can image planets, correct? I have a DSLR camera and would love to try and image some planets with it.
On FB marketplace there is a Apertura AD8 for $600 and an Orion Skyquest XT10i for $500. Do y'all have any recommendations on either one of these? They are pretty much brand new. I think I would also need a mount for the camera, correct? I have a truck for transportation
I've heard really good things about the Apertura AD8, but I think that also might just be due to the accessories. The XT10 comes with some other add one as well
Thank you all!
What should I look for tonight?
Hey guys! I'm brand new to Astronomy. I have few nights where I can actually spend the night looking at stars and this is one of those nights. I live on the top of California and am going to bring my telescope to a spot with almost no night pollution.
What should I be looking for today? It's not much but I have a starsense explorer lt 80az
Thank you!
Not sure what's going on. Wheels don't spin but it sounds like motor is working
Trying to get into this as a hobby
Hey everyone! So I've been looking for a hobby to delve into and I found Astronomy. I love seeing the beauty of different things in our world, and then realized that I could look up at the night sky and see so much more.
I purchased a Celestron Starsense explorer LT 80AZ on FB marketplace and purchased an 8mm eye piece as it did not come with one. The first night I had a blast looking at stars, then I woke up at 4am to get a view of Saturn (see picture).
My question is, what do I do from here? Are there things I should know/do? I'm thinking about learning how to star hop?
I just feel like there's so much, and it's so dang expensive. I don't have much of a budget as I have three kids under three. But man, I just love looking up at the night sky and seeing things.
The other problem I have is I have always been an early riser instead of a night owl. I live at the top of California so right now it gets dark late and bright super early.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
Bought this on an absolute whim to replace smoking as a hobby. No idea what todo
Yup! Found this for $40 on Facebook marketplace. Doesn't have an eye piece I guess though?
Been barely used, not sure if this was even a good buy.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you. I have no knowledge of Astronomy.
If anyone has any suggestions on eye pieces, or has an extra I could buy, from them (I have a low budget though) that'd be great!
