Car Insurance ‘Info only’
Hey,
Looking for some advice on what people would do. I’ve been driving for around 22 years now and I accidentally reversed in to a parked car last week. First time I’ve ever done something like this and I’ve been kicking myself since!
I did the right thing and left my details on the windshield of the car, sadly there is damage to the wheel arch (small dent and scuffs) and the guy called me a few hours later. Thankfully he’s being super sound about it and appreciates my honesty. I’ve said I’d rather settle outside of insurance so my premiums don’t go up for the next few years but obviously if it’s going to be expensive (1k+) , I’ll have to go down the insurance route.
So my head is now spiralling, I haven’t told my car insurance yet, it’s now been 7 days as I don’t have any of his detail, just first name and car reg as we’ve spoke on the phone.
My question is, how long is too long to tell your insurance? Has anyone ever been in this situation and did you tell your insurance? I’ve read so many Reddit subs and stuff online about potential insurance cancellations and it’s giving me the fear!
Any help or guidance would be appreciated!
