I don’t think anyone posted this yet?

It looks like the Japanese Nintendo store switched up the picture of Cai running on its storefront. It seems to show the icons for the shop and armourer in the mini-map, as well at the one for the Pale Raven’s Perch. Noctula in the background, a lot of allied units, opponents you can talk to in Davison and a whole lotta quest markers. Plus a few symbols I can’t make out.

Just putting these up for posterity

From the Japanese site. Seems to be all the “important” characters. So Eshmel, Fortuna, Sothis, the four lords, the four others who got portraits and what looks like two characters stuck in the future wasteland with Eshmel.

Brief Theory about Teams, The Arena and Recruitment

So I’ve seen it suggested that one of the ways you might recruit people is after knocking them out of the Heroic Games. I think it’s a strong possibility and thought I’d extrapolate a bit more.

We’ve seen a lot of characters show up as sort of teal units who are playable on some level but not part of your team. This is usually denoted with a different standard than the team you’re fighting for. We also know thanks to Ninae’s recruitment that the standard changes to yours when a character is recruited and thanks to Ultand that at least some teal units will be recruitable.

We’ve also seen the other lords all appear as teal units at some point, always in a pair with their closest ally. Most of the other teal units also tend to show up in pairs.

So my thinking is, what if while you’re working through the games with some teams against others, those pairs are representative of another team fighting for the prize? With the two of them serving as co-bosses when you finally go up against their team with the possibility of recruitment once you’ve knocked them out? We have seen that not all of the arena fights have two bosses, but at least some do.

Possible pairs I think we might be able to knock out and recruit:

- Toothpick Man and Ursula: They tend to appear together as teal units, and I feel like they probably wouldn’t showcase a unit in a trailer if there was no way you could recruit them. Maybe he hired her as a bodyguard or something.

- Gun Nun and Flower Lady: Again not much to go off of except that they seem to keep appearing together as teal units and are so far the only two who look like they might use guns, so maybe they come from somewhere else.

- Not!Cain and Not!Abel: They seem to be fighting the lady in the cat mask together in the trailers and given the history of the Christmas Cavs it would make sense for them to be a team.

- Alexandra and Maybe!Seteth: I have even less to go on here, except that the one shot we see them in they’re together and that if they ARE a Pegasus knight and a wyvern rider a team of flyers would make sense for a round of the games. Also if by chance that IS Seteth and the game IS set between the War of Heroes and the start of 3H then he has a pretty obvious wish to fight for.

Having a bunch of fights have two bosses would also make it pretty easy to have the first or second match be against the Bandit Twins running gag too, though probably not recruitable.

Thoughts?

Just the Manga

Was rearranging a bit to try and fit all the manga volumes into one section and figured I’d share the result! Moved the Jeweler Richard light novels over to sit with the regular novels and mcgyvered a riser so I could move some other stuff around. probably need better bookends if that’s where the FMA volumes are going to sit but I may change my mind by next month (collecting the rest of them is on hold for a while).

Plot Point Spitball-ing

We’ve all seen this lady with Leda and two guys we know are playable, but she herself has not appeared on a map. There doesn’t seem any reason to assume she wouldn’t be playable, which got me thinking a bit.

We know Ultand is playable, but the only map she’s actually shown up on seems to be a little further in the game. She seems to be absent on Cai’s early ones, and we know Cai has to go save her at some point. We also know Dietrich has a younger sister but we likely haven’t seen her (maybe we have, for the sake of the theory bear with me).

So I’m wondering if a shared early game plot point is going to be rescuing a kidnapped team member. I’m well aware that I could be way off the mark. Maybe she just wasn’t deployed or offscreen in battles we’ve seen. Maybe she dies. Maybe she pulls a betrayal. Maybe she’s the team’s Tataru, balancing the budget while everyone else fights. But then would it be Fire Emblem without some kidnapped women?

A Bit of a Theory About “Green” Units

Apologies if it’s been mentioned before, but I was looking at some of the battle shots we’ve seen and noticed something. It’s been pointed out that there are enemy units, your blue units, and sort of turquoise ones. But I also noticed that Ursula is one of those turquoise units when she’s used in the trailer. She also doesn’t have the same team crest as Dietrich. I checked the screenshot of Theodora fighting the mask guy from the Nintendo shop and noticed a lot of the units on that map were actually turquoise. But none are on the map where Sirocco‘s fighting.

Which leads to my theory that these aren’t “green” units as we think of them, but controllable characters who just aren’t on our “main” team. Not necessarily temporary (though some probably are) but recruits who aren’t on our side during the games themselves. As a wild guess, maybe they stay that way until we earn their loyalty or something.

Does mean something interesting in that Leda and Dietrich have both shown up as such on a Cai map, and Cai on one of Leda’s. My guess is that we’ll get at least a little use out of the other lords as their paths cross, which is neat! Though we probably won’t get them for keeps. who knows though?

Been a while since I saw one of these

Ordered MW because I felt like reading something fucked up, and was a little surprised to find it published in left-to-right format! I think it used to be a bit more common, but was definitely rare by 2010 which is when it was published. Also mildly interesting, it was published under the Vertical name, which also published Princess Knight a year later and didn’t flip it, so I guess sometime in-between they changed it.

Just thought it was kind of neat!

Shelfie!

Was reorganizing stuff in the house a while back and set up some old closet space as a kind of nook for all my comics/manga/graphic novels. (Please ignore the holes in the wall) Figured I might as well share!
