Has anyone successfully appealed an academic suspension after receiving incorrect advising information?

Before the VW deadline, I met with an academic advisor because I was trying to avoid suspension and decide whether to withdraw from a class. During the meeting, we discussed how my GPA would be reassessed once I reached 30 credit hours, and I was told that my three lowest grades would be excluded from the calculation.

Based on the math we did during that meeting, I was under the impression that if I finished the semester with the grades I was expecting, my GPA would reach the required 2.0 and I would get off academic probation. Because of that advice, I stayed in the course and completed the semester.

I just received my suspension letter and found out that only two grades were excluded, meaning the information I relied on appears to have been incorrect. If I had known the actual calculation, I would have withdrawn from the course before the VW deadline and remained under 30 credit hours, which would have delayed reassessment until after another semester.

This was my first year back after several years away from university. My original academic probation happened during my first year in COVID when everything was fully online, and since returning this year my grades improved significantly (B, B+, C+, Cs). Compared to all the Fs I got my first year in 2021. I honestly worked really hard this semester and made sure to seek advising before making academic decisions. I’m at a loss right now on what to do.

I’m planning to appeal, but I’m struggling to even get an advising appointment right now, they say they won’t make appointments and I can’t seem to get in the drop in calls. Has anyone gone through something similar or have advice on the appeal process, timelines, or who to contact?
