My pup (9y/o schnoodle)has a low neutrophil count. He just had his spleen and a benign splenic mass removed 2 weeks ago. His vet did blood work and said his white blood cells count was still low. He wants to send his blood in for a tick panel first since its cheaper then do a bone marrow test if tick panel is negative. Would it make more sense to just prescribe the antibiotics for tick born illness then do a bone marrow test if that doesnt improve it? He is, by all accounts, a healthy boy with no actions that indicate something is wrong. Great appetite, sleeps fine and is very playful and energetic. What course of action should we take?
