I reached my coastFire number last year. I was interviewed by a smaller firm in the same industry I currently work. They said I impressed them and they thought I'd be a great fit. They offered me a role at a higher level with a 20% base increase. I turned them down.

I feel like this was my first decision with the coast mentality. I could've done it but why leave an organization I'm comfortable with and coworkers I'm used to to go to a higher demanding role with almost no support to speak of (much smaller company).

Would more money be nice? Sure, but I don't think it would be worth the stress and lack of flexibility and time off to spend with wife and young son. Thinking of it in terms of coastFire has really helped me not regret my decision.

Finally took the dive to join the EV crowd. Wanted a car that wasn't a Tesla and this seemed like best option for me. I love the way it looks and drives. Soooo many options in still trying to figure them out.

I know Idrive gets a lot of hate but I think it's cool that I can draw things out with my finger.

Getting L2 charger installed in the garage tomorrow and we have low cost chargers at work so range wasn't a concern. We will take wife's hybrid SUV if we need to take a long trip.
