Probably canceling my Rivian R2 order and picking up a used i4
I put a day one reservation in on a Rivian R2, I've been told I'm free to place my order, but I'm struggling to justify the $61k price tag (before TT&L). As much as I love the R2, I've driven small sedans for the better part of two decades now (currently in an Audi S3), and think the i4 might be a better fit. Ideally if I could find a lightly used M50 (would consider an e/xDrive40) for $45-50k, that'd still save me $10-15k over the R2. Not sure if anyone here has seen the reports of the R2 highway range being 20-30% lower than the EPA estimates. What is your real world experience with range compared to what BMW publishes?

DAPP and traffic light
I recently purchased a 2025 i40 with DAPP. It is running on OS 8.5 and had the last update in March (software 03/2026.5).
In looking through the settings (and after driving extensively) I noticed that while it seems to have the DAPP features it doesn’t show settings for Traffic Light and Sign Warning. The vehicle has 5AU/DAPP and 4, but the Traffic Light and Sign Warning menu is absent from Driver Assistance → Safety and warnings.
Does anyone know why this would be the case?
Is there any reason to believe this feature is not supported on a 2025 i4 eDrive40 with DAPP?
100% range on 18 inch ps4s
I'm quite impressed with an average of efficiency of 3.2mi/kwh(4.84km/kwh). This car never fails to surprise me and these tires are incredible compared to the Bridgestone turanzas.
What's everyone's color ranking?
I think my top three are:
Brooklyn grey
San remo green metallic
Alpine white
I'm looking at used 2023s and trying to decide what color to get!
CPO i4 - Decent deal?
I’ve basically decided that I want a used i4 but after waffling back and forth I’ve decided to go the CPO route.
I’ve never owned a BMW, always had Audi’s but have been very disappointed in my last Audi (so many tech and reliability issues)
I’ve found a CPO 2024 i4 xdrive for 37.5k USD. It’s got parking assist and the premium package. Seems to drive fine and is in good conditions, no visible damage anywhere that I can tell.
One consideration is that it has 31k miles on it. Seems like a lot for a car less than 2 years old, but from following this Reddit people seem to agree that this car is stunningly reliable.
Is this a good price? Should I be concerned about the high mileage?
carplay and bmw rare & unsolved glitches
TLDR; iphone 16 pro max disconnects from bmw carplay every time i use voice dictate, and will not reconnect unless i reboot my car’s computer system.
hi all.
i have a brand new 2026 bmw x3.
the first time i had this problem was literally driving off the lot the first day i owned it. it took 3 months to realize what was causing it. please let me know if anyone has any kind of experience with this because nobody knows what to do with me.
My BMW and iPhone 16 Pro Max are connected via carplay.
while driving if I park or at a red light, want to respond to a text message and I click the voice dictation button on my iPhone in any app, 1 of 3 things will happen:
- whatever I’m trying to dictate is written out and duplicated 500 times. then my carplay crashes and it disconnects from my phone. bmw will then be unable to reconnect to my phone. The only way to get my phone to reconnect is to delete my phone from my device devices in my car., delete my BMW Bluetooth from my iPhone, and hold the power button on my car to reboot idrive. this often happens when I’m in the middle of driving, which causes me to have to pull over and reset my car bevause then i can’t see my map!!
- Voice dictation will not glitch and Will properly write whatever I’m trying to dictate, but my phone will still disconnect and refuse to reconnect.
- Sometimes nothing happens and it works. But that’s rare.
I can’t just not use voice dictation. I’m paying a lot of money for this car and this seems ridiculous to have to just accept and get over.
when I have had my car serviced the loaner cars they have given me have not had this issue and nobody else that I know with a BMW has this issue so it is clearly a problem with my car.
however, the service department doesn’t know what to do with me. Who should I reach out to?
i4 M60 Range
Where does this difference in range come from? Am I making a calculation error or is my BMW cheating?
Windshield molding melted:(
The windshield molding on my 3 months old i4 m60 has melted 💀 The dealership said they’ve never heard or seen anything like it before. And the car is parked in a parking garage every day. Wtf
Looking for a lease takeover in LA
Please DM if serious with terms
Digital Key Won't Start Car
2025 i4. My digital key is working fine to unlock/lock the doors when I hold it up to the door. When I put my iphone in the holder in the car, and turn on the car it goes on for maybe 2 seconds and then shuts off.
I have the digital key in my iphone wallet and I leave the phone open to the wallet when I place it in the holder.
I haven't used it since I set it up last year, but had the need today and it was an epic fail.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
I4 battery % drop extreme?
Just got a used 2023 i4 with about 17k miles. I’ve noticed that the battery charge % drop is pretty dramatic when only driving a few miles. Granted LA is hilly and there is stop and go traffic, but my % has been consistently decreasing 2-3% when driving only about 2.5 miles in slight traffic (around 20 minutes). Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Hi I’m looking to lease an i4 and wondering if this is decent
I think it’s kinda insane to put 7k down for a 671/ month i4 lease. But wanted to know others thoughts as I am new and this is the first car I’m leasing
I4 on 18”
I want to maximize the mileage range. Will an 18” clear the brake calipers?
For the record, I’m still in the shopping/searching phase for a pre-owned. I’m also debating between the xdrive or the M50.
Please tell me if this is better for my i4 lease
Hi - earlier today I posted my lease for my i4 10k miles and was told it was a horrible deal. I reached out to another showroom in California and was okay with the shipping cost if it meant an overall better deal.
What I don’t understand here is the Capitalized Cost Reduction as I did not see that on my other lease
BMW i4 M50 with 18-inch wheels without staggered tires?
I’m planning to get an i4 M50 soon, and since I don’t really care about the look of the tires, I’d like to get that little bit of extra comfort and range. Ideally, I’d like to run a non-staggered setup so I can also keep tire wear low by rotating the tires.
Has anyone had any experience running 18-inch wheels without staggered tires?
A lot of people might wonder why I want an i4 M50 instead of an e40. Quite simply, on the used market, I can only find the M50 with the equipment/spec I want.
