I got a dog and am having second thoughts
I have two cats (male 6 yrs old and female 2yrs old), I have had them both for two years and they get along fine and were happy. I recently moved to a new apartment which was stressful enough and I adopted a puppy as well. Terrible timing for the cats but it was something I seriously thought about for a year. To keep this short one of my cats has taken fairly well to the change and is coming out and about in the same room as the puppy and even okay with sleeping in the same bed, my female cat however is not coping well.
She stays in the bathroom/ hallway all day long and will even meow for us to come see her occasionally she will come out but stays high up so the dog can’t even see her. I’m afraid that if this doesn’t get better within 3 or so months I will have to rehome my puppy. So far my puppy has been super respectful, only sniffing and nothing more. I’m just concerned that my cat will never feel comfortable being in the house ever again, she’s been around a dog before and even befriended him I’m just not sure what’s so different about this dog. I want her to feel happy and safe any tips?? Did I make a mistake?
