(Spoilers Extended)Alternate Ending for S8
I would’ve loved to see a different reveal of Jon’s heritage other than the all seeing eye just telling everyone. Like, he could’ve still had a role in it for verification purposes but I wanted to see people figure it out. Or Jon figure it out himself.
Like fine, maybe Bran verifying it has to be an aspect but what if it went something like:
Everyone’s in Winterfell and Sansa wants to be snarky to Dany so she’s all “hey remember that time your brother kidnapped and raped my aunt?” Not too dissimilar from the exchange she has with Littlefinger but instead its directly to Dany in the great hall where people could hear and then those who are around and remember it start talking so boom gossip starts. It’s a topic going around. Maybe Howland Reed is there (which why wasn’t he actually) and he makes a crazy face because he knows what happened and who Jon really is and that sets Varys on the trail.
Separately, Jon is being emo, maybe he goes chats up Bran to talk about Benjen or wtf he did north of the wall or whatever but he’s having one on one time with Bran and he’s like “hey dad died before he could fulfill his promise to tell me about my mom, can you do me a solid with your super-vision?”
Boom. Cat’s out of the bag. Jon resolves to say nothing. Gonna take it to the grave.
Things continue, then some emergency happens. Something that forces Jon to claim Rhaegal (rather than Dany just being like tee hee ride my dragon if you’re a real man), thereby revealing that he is blood of the dragon. Maybe during the long night battle.
Ok so that happens and Dany tweaks out because she KNOWS only targs/dragonseeds can claim a dragon. But maybe that’s not widely known, maybe no one else saw him do it in the chaos of the long night battle. No one has figured it out beyond Dany, Bran, Howland, and Varys.
So whatever take or leave Varys plotting, telling people in secret whatever.
Things progress similarly to how S8 goes down except Rhaegal doesn’t get killed by the Iron Fleet. Instead when the Mad Dany moment happens, Jon hops on Rhaegal again and they have an epic dragon battle over a partially destroyed Kings Landing. Dany loses.
And Bob’s your uncle.
