I would like to improve at Yu-Gi-Oh.

Hello everyone,

I downloaded Master Duel, played a ton of games with a fun deck (based on the burn/stun decks of "Ultimate Archfiend" on YT) in order to understand what my opponents were doing (or should I say "Trying to do" since I playd tons of floodgates).

I used to play 15 years ago... My deck was based on Monarchs and Macro Cosmos/Fissure in order to revive my DD Scouts and DD Survivors. The game was very slow. Although some decks were scary like TeleDAD or Plant Synchros to name a few.

I'm kinda broke at the moment, and I lack data on modern Yu-Gi-Oh. So building a competitive deck is very hard for me.

For weeks I have been going to locals in my new town, trying things... But some players looks irritated when playing against me, like they don't want to play against the noob, which i can understand.

I started with a stun/burn deck, but they didn't like it at all. My deck was composed of "trash" cards like "Gravity Bind", "Grave of Super Ancient Organism", with some burn cards like "Zoma The Earthbound Spirit" or "Magical Cylinder"... One player even asked me "Do YoU eVen hAvE a wINCoNdiTiOn" while laughing with his friends - I told him yes - the burn cards in my deck are my win conditions.

So I stopped playing this deck, brought my old "MacroMonarch" deck with "Marshmallon" in it (I always loved this card). I faced a Dynomorphia deck and won one match out of the b03, because my opp attacked my Marshmallon... Again I got mocked : "Who plays this card? - are you for real?", "You should play another deck" etc...

So I started training "BEWD Primite" (the "Magia" version with "Kaibaman" and the "Sifr/Crimson" version without "Kaibaman"). My level started going up! I learned many things ! How to use handstraps correctly (I'm still learning), how to combo, how to bait handtraps etc...The deck is pretty cheap compared to other decks so I started using it at locals. Well...Players were still irritated because "BEWD is stupid because it's so strong going first" and even started pre-shotting my combos while I was playing : "Oh yeah, you are going to summon Sage, ahah, and now Link into Spirit with Eyes of blue and grab Mausoleaum, your deck is so linear and boring". I get it, BEWD isn't the most complicated deck but for me it's a huge step! anyway...

I stopped playing BEWD and tried to learn "a hard deck" with many lines. I chose "D/D/D" because it seems like they have everything a new player can hope for : Pendulums, Synchros, XYZ, Links, Fusion... Even Pendulums XYZ/Synchros/Fusions... I grinded for a month on MD to get the deck, got it and played alot. I know my combos now even in my head without real cards. I can play! I'm proud of myself to be honest, because it wasn't easy coming back into the game. So I went to a local using my D/D/D deck (half of it is proxies cards because...i'm still broke) and people are still complaining. "I don't want to go second against you because your deck is too complicated" / "Oh no, not D/D/D it's boring". I played against a dude who literally stopped caring about our game and started looking elsewhere, he didn't cared at all about ou match. He just said "Yeah play i don't care" so I played and got belittled when "I didn't announce my effects" which I always do, but he wasn't focused. I was proud, I built a solid board with Deviser/Zeus Ragnarok/Wave High King Caesar/Siegfried - but he just surrendered...

I even gave them (for free) many old cards that are still relevant today like Koa'ki Meru Golem, Double Cyclone, etc... I thought they would give me some staples (I still lack some staples like Evenly Matched, Triple Tactic Thrusts, Fuwalos etc...) but they just didn't care.

I would like to be able to compete against them. I don't want them to suffer while playing against me because I have a boring gameplay/gameplan.

They play super meta decks most of the time. Nowadays it's Kewl Tune, Branded or Doomz. It was Radiant Typhoon before or Mitsurugi, Orcust, Sky Strikers etc...

Do you have any tips ? videos I could watch that could help me improve fast? I need to learn the "Yugioh" Vocabulary also, like "Special Summon this, triggers this, chain1 this chain2 this" So I can play without hesitations. I want to develop my confidence.

Learning how to use handtraps would also help me alot but I don't know many great youtubers. I looked at "Jesse Perez" on Youtube and he gave me hope. I admire his fun personality and obsession of the game.

In advance, thank you - my dear Yugioh duelists.
