Paper trading: entry/exit prices recorded outside the day's high-low range — bug or am I missing something?
I’m new to trading, so I might be misunderstanding something.
I’m using an IBKR paper trading account and noticed that some of my recorded entry/exit prices don’t match real market prices.
Example:
AOS — 2026-03-23
My recorded entry: $65.00
Actual day range: $55.17–$56.47
So my recorded entry was above the real high of the day.
A lot of my entries are round numbers, like $65, $130, or $420, so I’m wondering: are these the limit prices I entered, not the actual paper fill prices?
Does IBKR paper trading show real simulated fills, or can it show/fill prices that never actually traded?
I checked the market data with two sources, and they match. I’m just trying to understand whether I’m reading IBKR wrong or if paper trading fills are not very realistic.
Thanks!
